I'm curious about that too

I also vaguely remember some threads where some P910 owners got a 1000mah battery rather than the standard you mention

It seems to be a new version of BST-33 thou... The V800 i have had also had a BST-33 and the batterytime was at top 2 days with my heavy using of it... If i run Jimm (ICQ-client) on it it was top 20 hours!

The differece on the batterys are the mAh (900 on the old one and 950 on the new) and some version nr that is R1A on the old I got and R2A on the new.

The 1000mAh battery was for P800 and if my memory serves me right, it is also for the P900. With P910i, the capacity has been increased to 1260mAh, unless some vendors "cheat" their customers by swapping out the battery. If the P990i comes with only 950mAh battery, then it is even worse than P800, an almost 4 year old smart phone

The NK Communicators, are having 1500mAh at least, so does most WM devices. My god how can SE's latest and long delayed flag ship smart phone comes with a battery that is 550mAh LOWER than its competitors, coupled with it having added in all those power hungry features too?

Aren't anyone who wishes to purchase the P990i concern about this? I ahd already pre-ordered mine but only to learn about this news today Windows mobile users have always complained that if they utilise WiFi, e.g., in cafe hot spots, just for 1/2 hr - 1 hr, the battery life could never last a single day

You're wrong, P900 also had 1260 mAh batter, do not know 'bout P800.

I'll give the wifi a good go tonight if i got the time... it's mutch to test.
We'll see how the battey will do..
I don't think you can compare with an old phone cause the components are new and more powersaving... But still seems strange to have 50% weaker battery... add a couple of grams to the phone and give us a real battery... people who buy p990 doesn't chase grams anyway!

but
for UMTS cingular uses 850/1900 for upload-download
in fact where available (about 15 city in Us like new york and san diego)
you can buy a LG CU500, that has those specs.

said that...the P990i 3G, is not gonna work here.
but a P990a is probably gonna have all of those frequenzy, so yes if you want to use the phone , at the full of its functionality....you should wait.

Back to this UMTS in US topic real quick, I read that the reason Cingular uses 1900/850 is because 2100 is not yet available in the US (will be auctioned Q1 2007 by the FCC).

So, I was assuming/hoping that T-Mobile, who is rolling out 3G in ALL US markets in 2007 will have the 2100/1900 solution and that Cingular will also add 2100 to their network to support global standards.. Does this make sense?
