more at the BBC link above and at SMSBible at the Australian Bible Society where they say...

SMSBible allows you to send Bible verses of your choice together with your own personal message (up to about 150 characters total) to groups of people.

Ideal for Church leaders, Youth Leaders, Teachers and Home Group leaders to send verses of encouragement, reminders of bible study themes, reminders of Sunday sermons.

Each verse is translated into 'SMS Language' - the full Contemporary English Version (CEV) with a modern twist! True meaning and order of words retained - 100% faithful to original text.

The purpose of this program is to provide a tool to the Christian community which will assist and encourage engagement with the Word of God.

FREE Download as a service of the Bible Society In Australia Inc. to the Church.
It is our prayer that many would be touched with the Word of God through this program.
