When I start my Pc up, windows loads up and I click on my user. Now it has startd to take ages to startup everything (about 6 things). It has only just started to do this, and it does it when my daughter logs on also.

Any ideas?

Last weekend my laptop wouldnt boot and I had to resort to using my recovery disks, lost everything, grrrr.
Now I keep being reminded to make recovery disks, Do i need to make fresh ones or can i use the ones I made before ??
Its a sony Vaio running vista.

I would have though the ones i have would work but after the trauma of last weekend I dont want to take any chances.

EDIT 2: Fixed it. My HD had failed. For future reference for anyone else who experiences a PXE-E61 error on startup, there are a lot of suggestions here: http://www.nocrash.com/ncbbs/msgs/3247.shtml (some of them good, some of them obnoxious) as to how to fix it. The error, apparently, needn't mean an HD failure, in some instances it can be fixed in the BIOS.

Hi there,

Hoping someone might have an idea about this. The other day I had been using my laptop. I left it on (doing nothing), and went to another room. When I came back it had the blue screen of death, so I restarted it. Now, when I turn it on I get the below message running over and over, and that's all it does. It also makes a whirring sound I haven't heard before. Any ideas would be appreciated

EDIT: Having done a bit of searching, I think my HD has had it!
