I also had trouble updating my K750i (UK English/HongKong), and was desperate to find a solution. My update only went to 90's% complete, and my camera had been disabled.
After reading dozens of posts in Esato, I managed to make my K750 complete the update service!
This may not work for everybody, but it may help some of you.
I've used combinations of other poster's experiences and come up with a method that worked for me (try it at your own risk! first back-up whatever data you don't want to lose):

1. do a Master Reset for SETTINGS ONLY (last item found under menu, settings, general) - this will allow you to keep all your MP3s, pictures, videos, etc.
2. right after doing master reset of settings, shut off phone (you DON'T need to enter codes for anything, just hit the shut-off button).
3. start the SE update service, follow on-screen instructions to the letter.
4. wait until it reaches 100% complete, and they ask you to remove battery one more time.
5. run master reset of settings one more time (not sure if this is necessary).
6. you will have to re-configure your phone for WAP, MMS messaging, etc. etc. (I use the automatic SE service to do this).

that's it. check that everything is once again working.
my software version number says R1DB001 (November 2007).

most importantly my camera is back in action!
good luck, hope it works for you too.
