K750i keypad light effect firmware dependable? |

Hello
Tried a search but didn't find anything on the following;
The cool light effects described on the SE K750i website are not working on mine. Most annoying is that you won't get it unlocked in the dark because the keypad doesn't light up if you press a button when the keypad is locked.
Also the lighting of the camera button when you slide the lens cover is only sometimes activated (6 out of 10 times).
Is this cureable by a firmware update or is the phone just not working properly ? |

I have never had this "cool" light effect either. Don't even know what it's supposed to look like |

not working properly.
Save all your shit, remove the memory card, and do a master reset. If that doesn't fix it, you could try an update, but if that doesn't work you will need to get a replacement. |

How is it supposed to work?
When my phone is key locked and I slide the back cover open, the camera button blinks a couple of times. Then if i slide it close, the keypad gradually dims off. Is that the effect you're talking about? The gradual dimming of keypad lights?
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. I Nokia N95 8GB and N82 |

wtf bobsprout? Octo said:

The keypad and camera button on my K750 flashes on opening the lense cover, every single time. I think that qualifies as a lighting effect. And I think the fact octo's only happens 6 times out of ten is a fault buddy.
I wasn't talking about the keypad lighting up when you press it when locked, because it f....ing doesn't, just like you say. However it does light up when you open the lense cover, then if you close the lense cover the keypad stays lit for a few seconds, and as Octo says, his doesn't always work...
Get a freaking life before running off at the mouth....

@max_wedge
Please calm down a bit... I think the suggestion to do a "master reset" is suggested far to often here at Esato, and maybe some people with me think so too... you see, it makes people lose information that can't be retreived again.
Doing a master reset shouldn't be a standard suggestion here at Esato, but that's how it has ended up to be. I don't know why though... here's a lot of people with good knowledge so there's no need to throw in that suggestion as one of the first ones...

actually, if you think about it, what else can he do? There is obviously a problem if it only flashes 6 times out of ten? There are no settings he can check, it's a simple fault. It's either that or return it to the service centre. If a reset fixes the problem, he doesn't have to be without his phone while it is being repaired at the service centre.
It's not that hard to save your stuff. http://members.aon.at/fwechsel/ "MyPhoneExplorer" is perfect for backing up contacts, sms's, files etc for K750.
What I have found from my personal experience, is that internal software can get out of order very easily sometimes, and a simple master reset fixes it. If the handset is branded, all settings (gprs etc) get restored. If it isn't branded, then you may need a call to your provider to setup gprs again.
My point is that if there is a fault, it should be rectified incase it is a sign of further failure, or instability of operation.
And I don't appreciate people telling me I'm speaking BS about a feature that doesn't exist, when in fact that feature does exist. The fact is bobsprout didn't even read the original post properly before slagging me off....(check your K750 cybervisitor, and tell me if your phone camera button and keypad flashes or not when you open the shutter )

Problem solved; the camera light button was malfunctioning. The "cool light effects" as described by SE (see the introduction on their K750i website; when using the locked keypad only * and the unlock-softkey will be lit) are indeed not implemented. Or, as the customer care person I talked to said: "It might be possible that the video on the site is not entirely true to nature. But please read the legal disclaimer."
thanx for your support people. |
