It's not possible on any SonyEricsson phones in the same way as Nokia's for instance. It requires additional software, hardware and firmware editing.
The easiest thing you can do is design a theme to disguise it as much as possible, but it doesn't remove it.

Actually with the right software and tools it can be done. Unfortunantly I don't have a clue how, but I did come across it once. It involves hex editing the firmware flash, and using special EXPENSIVE software tools and proprietary cable to load it correctly.
You can also kill the camera sound of the K700 EVEN IN LATER FIRMWARE VERSIONS!!
It's not something you would do unless you have access to professional tools and expertise.

heheehe, very easy done, even with davinci, very nice CID ignore function which means firmware doesnt need to be resigned after any edit. So chnage anything you like....all be ok
Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

@ctsamados - it really is easy. You just use the USB cable that came with the phone and download the software from http://www.davinciteam.com. You need to purchase a 'credit' to complete the process - either from the DaVinci website or from any other site selling them.
Full info is in this thread - http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=95662&start=555

A CDA is a code that tells the SonyEricsson update service which 'branding' to put on your phone - different operators have different CDAs. There are also ones for generic or 'unbranded' phones. The thread has more info on this.
Credits cost between US$8 to US$15 depending on where you buy them. |

I didn't realise davinci did operator branding, so that's good news for me.
but can you put your own logo as the operator logo, or just choose from different operator's customisations? I've heard to do your own logo you need to edit the customisation yourself? |

You just get rid of all operator logos and it goes back to the stock firmware. This means there's a startup and shutdown logo (although you can certainly pick a different startup one if you wish) - they look much nicer Also all the icons in the menus, etc. go back to how they should be.
Which CDA you pick doesn't affect any of this - the only thing it will affect is what happens when you use SEUS. If you have left an Orange CDA on the phone then it will return it to Orange customisations, etc.

Are we talking about the phone's network branding or the operator name on the standby screen?
I understood the original poster wanted to remove the operator name from the standby screen, such as "O2 - UK" or "vodaphone UK"
De-branding is, of course, possible... but what about operator name removal?

edit: I'm intrigued, can't wait for your tutorial gbrooks3
This is all I can offer:
if you change the selected network the operator in standby mode changes to that network operator (or just "emerg. calls only").
Likewise if you put a sim from another operator it changes to their name.
In the K700 and K750, there is no setting that allows you to disable it.
You could design a theme that hides it, by using the same colour for text and text outline and background (not all colours work):
