this is what you get when you open the game(.jar file)

you dont have to do anything with those files.

you just have to copy the game:

note: the game i downloaded it's called chavo

Ok Tranced. If a game that I've downloaded in WinRar format, when double clicked in WinXP shows up as files all over like what you have above in the first photo ... how do I move these to my M2 card on my K790a? do I just move ALL the files in the raw "Other" folder, or name a folder say "Sonic" and then into there? Do I need to somehow compile into a .jad file? If so how do I do this?

WinRar or WinZip should do the trick in WinXP ... not sure if Vista needs it or not.

the things is, a java game is a type of archive with the extension "jar". Winrar will recognise a jar file as an archive and show you what's inside. You can even extract the files. However the files don't need to be extracted. You send the whole whatevername.jar file to the phone.

If windows hides file extensions on your system, disable that setting so you can see the actual full filename. If it's either .RAR or .JAR or ZIP, WinRAR will show the same icon, so you need to see the last three letters of the file name to tell. If it's RAR or ZIP, then unpack it and see if there is a JAR file inside. If it's got all these files (manifest, class files etc) inside it, then rename RAR (or ZIP) to JAR, and copy the file to the phone without unpacking it.

When you send via bluetooth it will install on the phone, if copied via file transfer it will end up where ever you put it and can install using the handset by selecting it.

@max, you beat me to it! Great post, couldn't have said it better myself. That should help out the people here who have problems identifying their .jar files.

Um I still don't get it.

I'll show you what I mean.

^ This is from a file in WinRAR on my PC. The file is titled " 3DTheFastAndFuriousTokyo.zip"

I don't have WinXP SP2 to show hidden extensions as you can see in the screenshot.

You guys mention just send "the" file to your phone over BT. But WHICH silly file is it. So many of these are .spl extension or another kind of extension. Nothing is clear that COULD be a master file. I had the same issue installing games on my old 6620 Nokia S60 2nd Edition phone. This is driving me INSANE!

The largest file in this zip file is a file called.
"track1.m3g" its 70,089 bytes.

Any explanation in a more lamens term for somebody that does understand the difference between Jar/Jad files but doesn't SEE a JAD file to send to his SE phone?

PLEASE HELP.

@PROM1, ok, here's what you do in the simplest way I can explain.

  1. Don't attempt to open your file "3DTheFastAndFuriousTokyo.zip", that is, don't double-click on it.

  2. All you need to do is change the file extension, that is, the back part of the file name that says ".zip" to ".jar". That's all there is to that.

  3. Send the file you've renamed, which should now be "3DTheFastAndFuriousTokyo.jar" to your phone, or copy it to "others" in your memory card.
