@wanqa, nice pics with your N73. You're right about not having auto-focus not being an excuse for poor quality pictures, as your photos have clearly proven. It seems like the W880's camera quality is a half-hearted attempt by SE. Hmm... But the N73 has a Carl Zeiss lens though, if I'm not wrong. Of course, that's no reason a normal Sony lens can't produce decent pictures, having said that.

good morning all. It's been a busy weekend and even busier Monday, so much so that i haven't even been able to check email, let alone this thread. Hope everybody's had a good start to the week. Nice pix there Wanqa, good composition too.

I do make a fuss over auto-focus, as the results are quite visible. I wouldn't buy a non-a/f phone now. But that's just me, as I enjoy taking cellphone pics quite a bit (I guess that's evident...  ) and as I get more into cellphone 'photography', the more demanding I naturally become with camera specs.
Fortunately  have included a/f on the 2mp-equiped K550i and W610i, so it's good to see that they haven't gone totally retrogressive on their 2mp phone range.

Hehe!the gucci phone!you have to get one man, you just have to!
What a busy day! This morning sitting in business meetings(in shorts and plakkies, have to mention that) and this afternoon drilling holes to reinforce trunking we installed last year(i used glue according to instructions that time) boy is my job interesting sometimes...and sometimes pretty crap. Used my phone as radio while busy, listening to cool relaxing tracks in between the noise. And on the way home i signed a petition to save the world and standing in a shopping kind now. Boy what would i do without my phone!

@wanqa, I know what you mean. What I meant was, you've clearly shown in your comparison between photos taken with your N73 and phtos taken with the W880i, that not having auto-focus does not necessarily mean that the picture quality would be poor.
Personally, now that I'm using the K750i with auto-focus, it'll be hard to convince myself to get a phone without it. Of course, other features of the phone are equally important to me.
By the way, I like how there are more pictures in this thread now, makes it more interesting and gives me an insight to life over in SA. I'd post more pictures when I get around to taking them.

Yup, I have to agree that pics n' stuff do make a thread that much more interesting compared to forum pages with just ramblings and retort.
We've had fantastic weather here in the UK again today; mid-March and it's blazing blue skies and warm sunshine..starting to be a little more akin to my native SA.

rolmao @ doc thug... Seriously bro, after last night's game anyone can win this World Cup. Pakistan didn't seem interested or motivated enough to win their opening match.
Any comments on the new leaked pictures of the K850 and the M610? I see updated specs on the M610 show that it has a camera and 3G despite previous rumours.
EDIT: Anyone excited at news that price of data bundles have been cut by both MTN and Vodacom.

Watched the first two hours of the match at work on a Sagem TV phone.Still blows me away..But the reality is he's a tester for Multichoice so viewing is free and when he finally has to pay,who knows how much it will cost.Nevertheless he's a lucky dude and has had free viewing for a year now and no-ones indicated it will be coming to a end very soon. |

I'm still in 2 minds about that K850i styling. Certainly novel compacting 2 of the keypad buttons within the centre scroll keys, but those square buttons are putting me off slightly...
The UIQ phone has me more interested now...

I'd be keen to see how the Sagem's battery holds out between charges with so much DSTV viewing.

Yep, Kryptik, got that e-mail from you, so i was sitting in a car in traffic, so why not. Great that i could do it on my phone:)
I have a lot of catching up to do on a lot of news and forums, almost clueless about the k850 and so on.
So these data bundles, what did vodacom do? Took their time they did. And is it on prepaid bundles only or any data? I would welcome a smaller bill when it comes to data. I do a lot of my after hours surfing on my handset, and it is not that much, but it still costs bucks.
Our fancy rich school got 6 macs. Will post my terrible pictures of them later. When i went to see them a cleaning lady and a grounds worker of the school were admiring them:) beautiful machines...
Back to work.

@francois: Afaik it's only for contract subscribers. Last time I checked Vodacom didn't have prepaid data bundles unlike MTN.

So the W660i is unveiled today...a cheaper-specced slim design, perhaps designed to fit between the W220i and W610i.
Therefore nothing to get excited about...
