Looks like it has a slide out keyboard, a slide down thing for photos and a slide up thing for 3G calling. Is this all in the same device? This thing looks awesome, some real changes in design as opposed to the usual stuff.

Did u notice that it also slides sideward? or maybe it's just me

While probably silly at this point, possible code names for this device, according to se-world, may be:

Alicia (High-end)
Ying (High-end)
An (High-end)
Kumiko (???)

And am I the only one who didn't see it slide at all? Maybe I'm just blind.

It's a three way slider now that's something new and BoyBawang you're not the only one who thinks that. I think it's pretty obvious that the Guy on the video is typing something and it does not look like a virtual keyboard to me.

Yep, exactly. That's what I've been saying all along. All the manufacturers have been busy planning such a product - Apple were just lucky to get it out in stores before the rest of the gang.

(I'm not saying this is SE's product of this kind, but it could be)

Not sure about Alicia cos she'll most likely be cancelled.
Quite the same thing as the W980...

Kumiko seems to be a better choice but it's expected to be a walkman device.

i think its time to say:
Once upon a time there were a real good mobile phone company called Sony Ecricsson
They used to have a real mobile phones with a lot of unique features and innovation but not any more

I think its HTC time to rule the market now

What a real sad story for SE fans

sorry if this out of the topic but its more than 600 pages now and i still dont see any hope that SE is going to release a real flagship phone (this year) that can survive in nowadays mobile phones market

I hope that SE prove that I’m wrong

The iPhone is irrelevant until I can buy it Sim free, change the battery without a tool and write a text message without a crappy virtual keyboard. That's why so many of us care about a decent competitor. The ability to communicate is the phone's most basic function and it's something the p series has done well for such a long time.

It's going to be great to see UIQ realise the potential it's had all this time. I can't wait to get the G900 next week, now I just have to wonder which storm device will replace it. I keep being tempted by the xi and Diamond, but my colleagues have had endless trouble with other HTC / WM devices.

Symbian is such a good starting point, use a lighter OS, then you don't NEED a 500Mhz processor or a car battery to run it.

I believe the video is NEW and not really two years old. He just claimed it to be to make us think that they already have that interface concept before iPhone was launched. or they wanna make us think that it was iPHone that borrowed their idea LOL!

People get carried away with these things...both overexcited and then yes the 'oh I hate SE' phase too. You must look at these things subjectively. It doesnt matter so much if a device like that can come out this year or next year if it has the potential to blow everything else out of the water. I never saw the device slide, and am not ruling out the possibility that it was a virtual keyboard or something. At any rate, you do realise that when they make devices thinner, they tend to lose quality because everything must be smaller (worse camera, worse speakers, worse screen, etc). I think a brick IS better for specs at this point in time. Maybe eventually when smaller technology proves more capable fine. But dont expect that thing to have optical zoom, xenon flash and the camera of your dreams any time soon. And to me, that in a way voids it as far as a multimedia device is concerned. But all that aside, I like the idea of the two way slider (though I am concerned for how robust it will be), and that form factor could show alot of potential.

For those unable to see the sliding in the video, here are some tips so you can discern it for yourself.

There is no actual sliding shown in the video, but it is assumed because when the guy places it on the dock, there is just a huge screen.

in the beginning, he is typing on what looks to be a qwerty style keyboard (first slide)

when he takes the picture of the car, there are camera buttons that come out of the bottom of the phone (second slide)

Lastly, the girl at the end has 3G type camera stuff at the top of the phone, which could signify a different model (which would not be "the device", but devices) or a third slide for 3G camera mode.

hope this helps.

Whatever. Assumption is the mother of all foul ups. I'll believe it when we see it clearly.

It's not assumption. it's clear how the guy closed the side slide before he turned and took a picture. Make that ridge at the upper left corner of the device screen as your reference. Aren't the buttons that the guy pressing while taking a picture clear to you? Now those buttons are gone when he docked the device.. what a mystery At the final part, a front facing camera poped from the top which is above the reference ridge I told u

All that analysis on a bunch of pixels which I can count with my fingers, on a device which is about as solid to us as the air you are breathing at the moment = nothing as far as evidence goes. All we know now is, something SIMILAR to that will come along sooner or later. I could have guessed that last November, given all the photoshops of devices where the whole front face is dominated by the screen.

Something like that is coming along, yes. But it could change drastically even in a short time frame, let alone the supposed 2 years. Thats the way the design process is.
