| Birdstep has created a hosted roaming service allowing P990 users to enjoy seamless mobile connectivity across Wireless LAN and GSM/GPRS/UMTS networks, independent of operator or subscription type. The SmartRoaming Client ensures secure and automatic network identification, user authentication and continuous network connection without application downtime or the user needing to know what network is available, how to connect or worrying about security risks. Through setting SmartRoaming profiles the enterprise or individual user can define network preferences based on policies that make sense for work efficiency and cost management. |

This is something I'm looking forward to with the P990i that the W950i/M600 will NOT be able to do. UMA support is there, very sly of SE not to just call it that.
SE is looking so much more appealing.

Today the device got back to the owner. I had the P990i for 1.5 week. I made some vids and pics of the new menu. The vids contain the media player, menu, camera and videocamera. The pics are gonna be used in my own preview.
If you have any questions please let me know.

Finally had time to look through the vids, excellent MR, made me want one even more!
The UIQ 3 looks amazing, so rich and vibrant and by the looks of it very easy to use...
Interesting to see the different ways one can navigate, and the vids make me think it'll be alright with the new 3 way jog dial...
Def gonna be my next purchase, been getting by with a K750i since my p900 died but this is def the next purchase....

MR, Why are all the pics so incredibly blurry? Is the camera lens dirty or something? Or is the phone having difficulty with focusing? I thought that the cam was supposed to be the same as (or better than) in K750..
Also, what an "interresting" taste of music... hehe |

I just hate when people claim something and not tell where they have the information from. Otherwise anybody can write anything.

Well I finally got sick of waiting for it to be released, my upgrade was due the end of last October as I got my P910 the week it was released on Orange, I rang Orange today & they said that when it is finally released it will be another month before they release it so I upgraded to the SPV M5000 (JasJar) get it tomorrow.
They wanted £249 to upgrade on my 200 minute contract, told them that I'd seen it online for £164 for the same deal + free weekend calls I told them I wasn't interested in the weekend calls & was put through to retentions & got the phone for £104.99.

I have a question .... but more so an idea that sprung from it while looking at this screenshot ....
http://www.newmobile.nl/eur/e[....]0i%2Fsony_ericsson_p990_67.jpg
Now in the background it looks like its from the More menu from the Main Menu listing. Which lead me to a specific idea.
My idea:
> I'm hoping that in a menu such as this (in the P990i mainly but in the M600 & w950i as well) that the support is there to rearrange the New Menu contents (ie: I'd personally like to put recording above email, Note above everything else followed immediately by Task then appointment). Since its from the Main Menu Contents listing (where basic apps are displayed) then there should be no need for me to see New SMS/MMS/EMAIL from this listing of choices. But I hope if its implemented, the option of changing content listings / or removing them from the list, the ability to put it back to default is certainly there.
This is what power & usuability I expect from 5 generations of a smartphone from SE (first 2 the original & its revision from Ericsson a few years before the P800 debuted). |
