Most of the questions and answers seem like the usual ones, as in, things people would know if they look at the SE webbpage. And when there is any question about coming phones there is of course no answer, or an dodgy one, which is not surprising since they are not allowed to talk about those anyway.

But usually, these kinds of chats tend to give no or at lest very little new info.
Current mobilephone: P1i and my now old K800i, and before that W800i, V800i, Z600i, and T310. Waiting for X10.

i recently read an interview with a vodafone spokesman that had some very nice hints about high-end and exclusive se phones coming to their portfolio.
(not sure if it was highend exclusive phones or some high end and some exclusive phones- but there's going to be alot of them.)

I posted this at SE-NSE

Q: Will all upcoming high-end phones from SE be using Windows Mobile or will Symbian UIQ come back?
A: We have just announced two new phones with Symbian - G700 & G900. Sony Ericsson offers various operating platforms, and Symbian/UIQ & Windows Mobile are two of them.

Q: What kind of card material will be bundled with the X1? Will a certain amount of countries come bundled or will this be something extra, you should buy?
A: [...] We'd rather not reveal what comes with the X1 as of yet

Q: Will we see a 3G sports phone in the future?
A: I'm a bit unsure of what you mean by sports phone, but C702 and W760 have an application called "Tracker". It makes use of the phone's built-in GPS to save i.e. your laps and information about speed, calories, etc.

Q: I read a review of X1 at wmexpert.com. [...] What month is it coming and how about the price?
A: We're aiming at launching the X1 in the second half of 2008. Because X1 is an advanced phone with a lot of features, it'll be priced in the upper segment - but it'll be worth its price

Q: Does SE have plans of announcing an ultimate mobile phone / flagship, by that I mean the features of C / W / P-series in one mobile phone? A mobile that can rule the market, and will come out in 2008/2009. What can you say about P5/Paris, when will it be official?
A: I'd say we've got that in our XPERIA X1. XPERIA is a brand that covers all of those categories, and X1 is a power-pack that combines a strong media experience with strong features such as HSUPA, WiFi, GPS and much more in a cool design.

Q: Will the successor of X1 be called X2 or something like that?
A: We can't comment on phones we're going to launch in the future, but Sony Ericsson will of course continue developing new phones. At this point in time, we're primarily focusing on the X1.

Q: What's the story on the built-in antenna in W980? I'd like to bicycle / walk and listen to the radio wirelessly with a headset.
A: Unfortunately we've encountered some problems during the development of W980 regarding the built-in antenna that would have made it possible to listen to music without using a headset. The FM-transimitter, however, is ready!

Q: Will there be a high-end clamshell phone from SE in the near future? Sony Ericsson got some really nice clamshell phones in Japan, and I hope we get to see some of that in Europe one day.
A: Z770 is a fairly high-end clamshell phone and is already available. For even more features, most music related, and 8GB of memory we have also announced the upcoming W980i.

Q: Will XPERIA have its own user interface for calendar, contacts, etc., or will it be the standard Windows Mobile 6.1?
A: The X1 will feature Windows Mobile 6.1 [...] In Windows the user has the ability to personalize the user interface. Apart from that you can use several panels or active desktops on X1.

Q: If I've got this right, the C902 won't feature a xenon flash, but instead a photo light. How will it be able to outmatch the K850 when it comes to indoor photos? And if C902 is the new camera phone, then why doesn't it feature touch focus (like the G900 will). That seems like a nice feature.
A: It is correct that the C902 won't feature a xenon flash. Instead we'll be using a new type of flash that we're calling "photo flash". Photo flash is a continuous light that'll flash when you take the photo. The advantage is that you can flash multiple times in a row, but it is a bit weaker than the xenon flash. However, this makes it possible to use Best Pic and get 9 photos in a row. The performance will be about the same.

Well, those were the best and most interesting questions...

from that Q&A, it seems X1 will be the flagship all-in-one, which to me isn't good news for Paris.

You do realize that they can't discuss future models, right? Anyway, I'd pick X1 over Paris any day.

So what happened to your remark that Paris 'SLAYS (yes SLAYS)' the competition :S Has the so called storm already dried up and the skies emptied?

It still will. Paris & X1 are different products, hence their competitors are and will be different.

I see, fair enough. What examples of currently available handsets would you consider competitors to each of these handsets, then?

N95 & N96 would be Paris' competitors, whilst X1 wouldn't have any direct competitors as none are on par in terms of specifications.
