I lot of fanboys will claim that the Z1 is better than the 808... but anyone that knows at least a little bit about how imaging works and what good IQ really is will know better. |

Understand citizen, credibility test methodology is explained and the original files available for download !
So unless indeed much less... Xperia Z1 is infinitely less than the 808 Pureview in absolutely all situations !
P.S: Remember...
808 has better lenses ( Zeiss Vario Tessar Wide Angle 26mm) !
808 is bigger and better image sensor ( Toshiba FSI 1/1.2") !
808 has better post processing ( Technology Pureview) !
808 has better pixels ( 4,89 Microns In Mode Pureview)
808 has better flash ( Xenon 3rd generation) !
P.S: Even 808 Pureview is better for night shots !
Simply set the resolution of 8 MP mode pureview, just activate the neutral density filter and set the ISO sensitivity to 400 or 800 (with this team could be defined exposure 2,7 seconds), it easily surpasses the Z1 in any night scene with the added peace of mind !

I think the Z1 will take good pictures, but when it really counts the 41mp higher resolution will always win.

Its not about the resolution, but the size of the effective sensor area which can capture light... its much larger on the 808.
I mean, just pick any full resolution shot from the 808, downsize it to 20Mpix and then compare that to a 20Mpix shot from the Z1... there is simply no contest.
Here's are 15 and an 18Mpix shots .. there is absolutely no way you can achieve such results from the Z1, no matter what you do.

Theres no doubt that the 808 uses better optical components. But forgetting that the 41mp sensor will capture more detail than 20mp.
I know some reviews were saying the fact Sony can achieve what Nokia have, but without the bulge is great. I cant imagine it to be so.

I love the 808 so much I ended up buying a new one  (probably because I'm rich and I can  )
Seriously, this is a piece of modern technology history and the last "true" Nokia... Prices are slowly going up (due to supply & demand). So I ended up getting another one just in case the actual one fails or breaks.

Still I take better photos with this than with any other phone. I really tried with the Lumias but WP is so freaking closed I didn't have the patience to wait.
