Video Recording and photo quality is poor in new Firmware |

I've replied to my original response from SE regarding video quality asking if they have any ETA if/when a new firmware will be provided to resolve the problem. Their initial reponse to me said an update was imminent, and in fact the R1L release came out after my email. I confirmed to them (although I'm sure they already know) that the video quality has remained unchanged. |

Sadly, i only made a couple of videos before updating my firmware, so i only have about 2-3 good quality ones.

Has anyone received an ETA for the new fw version from SE yet? |

SE do not supply such information AFAIK.
They always just say a release is imminent, but that could mean anything.

Yeah.. it's too bad. The video quality is indeed too poor to be usable.. Can't imagine they will not release another upgrade, but we have no info whatsoever.
To my understanding they also 'forgot' the Fine picture quality mode?
Stupid, cause I really love the phone!

I have to say, that i'm also a little dissappointed with the deteriation of image quality.
I'm on my third k750i now, and i can't get file sizes larger than about 450kb. The quality difference to photos i took with my first R1A handset is clearly noticable from my current R1J.
Just hope there's another update very soon, resolving this issue. |

I'm afraid all this image comparison has proved to me is that if there is a difference it is practically negligible. I've looked long and hard at all these pcis (some in other posts too). If anything, I feel the R1L pictures (atleast on my cam) are comparable to the R1A pictures, and the R1J pictures have slightly less accurate exposure.
I started on R1J (and updated after less than a day) and have just come off a K700, which has shocking white balance in many outdoor pics, and severe radial blurring, so of course I'm gonna like the K750 regardless the firmware version
I'm no perfectionist anyway. I have 1700 pics from my K700 that I'm more than happy with
The reduction in vid quality is real though, that's a bitch....

try the camera at night
where once I had excellent night pics,
now I have white lines running thru them -_- ,
there is a NOTICABLE difference between daytime pictures too, and no it's not my hand shaking, I'm not talking about blurring I'm talking about color / distortion / noise

If your phone works, id stick to R1A for the time being.

sounds like a good idea. R1L does give better sound output though. However if you bump all the equaliser bars it boosts the output level (haven't tried this but someone posted that trick and reckon's it works well)
I never had R1A to start with. The thing I'm noticing is that my cam is VERY sensitive to light with regards to white balance and exposure, I'm guessing this is not managed as well on R1J/L compared to R1A.
Pics in full light, excellent, as good as R1A (from looking at the comparison's peeps have posted). Pics on overcast days, at dawn or dusk, have poor white balance control. It means you have to remember to use white balance and exposure controls manually when not in ideal conditons.
Using the exposure control takes me back to my early days of photography when all I had was a full manual SLR Actually, it's kinda cool. until I get sick of it anyway |
