Thank you.
One other question for giffgaff users.
If you buy say £10 credit and you use it to get a £10 goodybag do you get a message everytime you make a call telling you you have no credit.
I dumped O2 simplicity PAYG due to the constant (every call) prompts about it being a free call and no credit.

voicemail is 8p per call. Think you get a message saying ..that text or call was free. Think theyre fetching out option of turning those messages off soo though |

They are reworking the balance notification so that you can turn it on or off via your account. Atm go on the giffgaff forum and read post two of the notification thread and make a comment there. Vincent will sort it out for you.

After too many problems topping up via debit card and no reply from giffgaff support i've given up and gone back to o2 themselves.
Basically if you use a card that uses the 3d secure system (eg Varified by Visa) you won't be able to top up or activate a sim card as there is an ongoing problem.
The only way to activate a sim card is to buy an o2 top up voucher and use that on the activation page. Even after activation you cannot add a debit card as it will be rejected so the only way is to buy o2 vouchers and enter the code on the giffgaff website.
This has been going on for a few weeks now and so far no reply from support.

I ported over from 02 and used a visa debit card and had no issues whatsoever |

It's currently being discussed in the forum. Some people are getting it to work and some aren't. Mostly if your card issuer uses the Varified by Visa security system. The payments get blocked and you get a unable to save card details prompt. There is an ongoing problem with activating sim cards in general as well. Other issues currently involve internet being barred for no reason even after activating a sim card.

Been on GiffGaff for almost a week and all is good upto now, got some more sims and my eldest lad is now using one, top ups etc all went smooth, he got the extra £5 too.
Never tried using my card to register i used a voucher top up and was up and running within about 15 mins!
Was on O2 before moving over to GiffGaff but did not port number as there are some issues, not sure if they have been resolved. I like the "community" aspect to GiffGaff, the forums are lively and help seems to be quick in coming for most members.

And at last they have implemented the option to turn off the annoying balance notification.

I've set up a new site getgiffgaffed.com where you can order a giffgaff SIM that will get you £5 credit when you sign up. The £5 credit isn't available when you order through giffgaff. Obviously this is aimed at newcomers to giffgaff.
For anyone else on Esato, if you would like a @getgiffgaffed.com email address for your referrals instead of using your personal email address, PM me and I'll get it set up for you.

Finally got the debit card problem sorted. Seems it was a link error when being directed from their 3d secure system back to the main GiffGaff site. Managed to get it sorted by my bank turning the Varified by Visa authorisation off on my account. All now working fine. Just gotta let my o2 contract run out and lower it down to the minimum payments until the end. Have put my GiffGaff sim in from now on. The missus, her mum and my parents have all moved over as well now.

How did you turn the visa authorisation off? Did the bank do it or giffgaff?

Phoned my Banks customer services and explained to them the problem I was having. They knew exactly what the problem was (link error) and knew what to do. They said it a common thing where websites dont code the sercurity redirect properly which causes a link error.
Its quite random s my girlfriends card went through fine nd she has the same type of account as me and at the same bank (Barclays)
