are those bugs really annoying even for basic usage of the device? i think the RAM leak and system restarts were the worst issue of a smartphone and is unrepairable either.

Don't know if this can be counted as a bug or not...

@hamlyn:

P1i automatically "detects" it as PEAP authentication, but it was no-go with my school networks. Guess I really need to talk with my school network staff then. What's interesting is that after I typed in my password and the connection fails, returning to the configuration page shows that my password length was altered... I noticed this problem with the P990i also, so it really looks more like a software bug than some serious incompatibilities...

Yes I hope firmware fixes the problems I'm having

Why have I got the feeling that's something you're going [have] to be saying for the next year or so.

So far I didn't see that proof at all.

time will tell. you may have noticed that this thread keeps growing with bugs similar or even identical (deja vu ?) to those on the p990i.

and this very fast...

i can imagine that the most of you were thinking that memory leak was the only problem of UIQ3, and that you will get a revolutionary product with P1i, but you've already started to realize that it was only a little evolution instead.

It's funny how people now just wait to hear and see something bad about P1.

No, funny is that some of those, who've already made a bitter experience with its predecessors, still desire the evidence of another SE smartcrap in order to face some facts.

here you go..

it's your money, your time and your nervous system..

have fun

just don't forget that this time you won't be able to blame SE...

Agree. Yet you say so and at the same time consider P1 a crap because somebody reported a bug. Lets wait a few weeks and then we will know how good or bad this phone is.

on bug i've noticed is the timezone bug..sms is always reported in gmt...otherwise i'm extremely happy this phone is great.

obviously i'd like to see some further tweaking.... camera improvements... and a new file manager and gallery views.. still some inconsistencies in the UI but i've kinda gotten use to it..

So, now we know for sure that the P1 has the same fw version as the P990 and the only difference is the extra RAM. So it is only normal that all the non-memory related bugs that exist in the P990 would also be in the P1.
I am waiting for someone to test for the following bugs in P1:
1- RDS function with FM radio
2- Bluetooth headphone sound volume.
3- Quick contact list in FO messaging cannot be reached with the jog dial anymore. (Pressing jogdial on "to:")
4- Icons for read SMS are the same as the ones for not read SMS.
5- One loses one's selection of ticked SMS messages when opening any SMS message.
6- Editing a number before call-is it possible to see the cursor without using the stylus?
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

@makbil:

1 - Works beautifully with the FM stations in Singapore. BTW the new interface is uber-slick!

2 - My unofficial tester aka sister says that I sounded soft on the DS970 (I could be speaking too soft, or the mic is really weak), will do a more proper test if I have the time. I could hear her clearly though.

3 - Pressing the jogdial on "To:" will present a pop-up menu of recent contacts with an option to view your entire contact list.

4 - That's right.

5 - That's right too...

6 - Sorry, don't quite get what you mean...

I noticed that there were some reports of the SMS timings reported in GMT but this wasn't the case for me. For me, I've got my home timing displayed in the Time app on top with London below; I'm suspecting that people with this timing bug had the London at the top and their home timezone below... BTW, the sent timing is with respect to your phone timing, and the receive timing is the actual time (which I believe is the timestamp from the SMS server).

Application closed

Apllication: web
Reason code: KERN-EXEC

OT: the pouch inside sidings has glue that tends to stick on the sides of my p1i.

I'm not surprise that P1 didn't bring any new features from P990/M600/W950. the difference is the (15?) expandable shortcuts in the standby menu? since the bugs in P1 looks like similar to P990/M600.

is there a red/greed rectangle sign at P1 camera viewfinder when focusing? just like k750?? or still just blank and guess where the focus is like P990?

sorry for my english
