mobile-review has more or less confirmed that T650i is indeed the successor of the T610. to imagine that all this time, we thought K700i was the successor, even though it was mentioned otherwise... |

What do you think of these new buttons SE is using very slim metal protrudung thingies. Is it easy to use? does it click or is it soft or even touch sensitive? Does it hurt.
I guess it's harder to make typing mistakes as there is a lot of space between the buttons.
Any feedback.

nobody has a prototype yet, but batesie has had first hand experience. so had axxxr and masseur I think. looking at the keys, I don't think it would be much of a problem to use. looks comfortable to me. |

Never had a problem with the T610 keys, in fact I find them amongst the easiest to text with, well spaced and collapsible with an audible 'click'.
@bodum
It would have had to have been something special to lead from the T610. The K700 was out around 2 years after the T610 so it woud have already been in development during the T610's first year of success.

that's a lot of haves and hads, mate. got me confused .
anyways IMO the K series was a new starting point for SE, and was never meant to be a replacement for the T610 as it was the starting point of SE's segmentation into imaging, music, ect. categories. I don't know why it took so long for the T610 to get a successor, but one could think that maybe SE just didn't have anything suitable in the meantime, and they didn't want to dilute the iconic status of the T610 by rehashing it with minor revisions every year or so i.e. K series.
just my opinion, though. |

No they are tactile and responsive yet smooth. Kinda phone you don't want to put down.

@batesie
That good eh?
@bodum
Well if you take into account that a mobile is 2-3 years in development before it hits the shelves then the T610 must have been in development when the company was formed in Oct 2002 because it was announced the following Summer 2003. The K700i came the year after when the T610 was just peaking.
I'd say the T650i is a perfect successor to the T610.

so if it's only a question of branding (i.e. only software-changes): what's the use of not branding a phone by both (cybershot AND walkman)? i mean ok, the phone could sound as good as a walkman (e.g. w810), pictures can be as good as cybershot (e.g. k810), however these phones have advantages of the branding which makes the use of specific functions much easyer, even though hardware is able to perform at same level
by the way: take a look at official sonyericsson website. Future phones have a star besides its name, they are sorted bei newest phone first... can someone explain why t650 ist not among first four phones? release sooner than Q3? *hope*

A dark red one would be nice, too.
