@Bra@dley

I don't have my replacement yet but it will not be brand new, it will be a refurbished K850i. I will let you know when I get it though.

@Mizzle

Good news. I (like every other K850i user i'm sure) cannot wait.

@ The people who can turn off the shutter sound

Does it make the sound when you focus on something? (Press the camera key halfway down)

Can you confirm that when you take a photo with your Sony Ericsson K850i in silent mode, it makes no sound at all?

Yep, it doesn't make any sound. When the phone is in silent mode, and when you turn it off in the camerasettings. Not even a bleep when its done focussing.

I can only turn off the sound by putting the phone in silent mode. During which it makes no sounds at all, nothing.

Hmm...a mixed response. Well I don't know what's going on but I'm starting to feel that I should have stayed with Nokia rather than go for SE...If my refurbished K850i that I receive in 3 to 5 days isn't flawless I will not be a very happy bunny.

generic (now) 037. camera settings allow no shutter sound, but the focus still
bleeps.

For those who use k850 Customised Uk/Blue to debrand - be warned there
appears to be an issue where the phone will randomly reboot. I've tried it
several times and all with the same result. Use the Customised UK/Green
and there's no problem. Also the blue version DOESN'T have the flash enabled
laser theme whereas the green version does !!!!
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Not that many problems stopping me use the phone as a phone, BUT, would love minor bugs fixed. Have got the 'Operation Failed' and have had it from about hour two of owning the phone. Only affect the My Applications and Games folder so far. Considered getting replaced, but, previously had a W910i and had most of the problems listed on this forum so far, must be a A200 thing.

Also, am I the only one on Orange to have lost my 'Homescreen'? No one else seems to have mentioned it. For anyone not on Orange, it is a Start Bar/Menu type thing on the desktop, I found it quite usefull but since 'Operation Failed' Syndrome kicked in it has dissappered.

Wishlist:

1. Am I the only one who wolud love to be able to use the standard file browser instead of the 'New Improved' Media browser. I still have a W880i, bought a 4gb card for this and it works well and fast selecting music/pictures/videos. Same card, same contents slows to a crawl on K850, SOOOOOooooooo Sloooooowwwww. Now changed to a 1gb card with lots less on it and still far too slow to use.

2. Why can't Sony make the motion sensor (Accellerometer?), switch off the touch keys while making a call, sick and tired of 'pressing' buttons with my ear while talking. Only way I found around this is to hold phone at 45 degrees to my head?!?!?!?

3. Why can't I switch off the power saving screen effect. I'm tired of taking phone out of lock mode only to have the screen look like it's turning itself off.

4. Not too arsed about the camera noise, but, I have the option to turn off and it works. Camera is silent (focussing/shooting) when this option is selected. Is it me or does it seem a bit wierd people 'NEED' a silent camera?

Model: Blue K850/R1CA029/Orange

Anyway enough for now!! Hoping for update soon.

re: Camera sounds

I have the "tennis ball" sound selected, and although I can't work out what SE was thinking when they added it, it's fairly quiet and less obstrusive.

The focus beep seems pretty quiet to me. It's good to know when it's in focus.

When I had my K750i I got into the system files and deleted all the sounds I didn't want (I was going to replace them with my own but never got around to it). You could also get access to the XML file with the setting to turn off the sounds. Shame we can't do the same with the K850i (yet?).

I want the shutter sounds off for the same reason I have them off on my digital compact... it's annoying. If I wanted shutter sounds I'll pull out one of my SLRs
