@Rhino8: Aren't you on the corporate gravy train? Who in here seriously pays for 1000 "free" minutes?

Waayyyyy off topic but had to post about this story from East London.
THE father of an unborn baby girl, who was brutally killed when the mother was shot during a hijacking in East London on Valentine’s Day, was taken into custody yesterday for allegedly staging the attack.
In a major breakthrough by police, detectives in East London arrested Melissa Shelver’s boyfriend, 27-year-old David Best, as he was being discharged from the East London Private Hospital.

@ brixster,
It's kinda difficult to have faith in humanity when one reads things as disturbing as that.
Hope that sicko gets what is due to him if found guilty.
BTW, the parenthesis in that first quoted sentence makes it almost ambiguous as to who was actually killed.
Ah,the Daily Dispatch. You may remember how the more leftist/liberal views of the publication and the then-editor during the struggle and Steve Biko saga. That was fairly well-covered in 'Cry Freedom.'
I used to frequently check out their site, but it was usually so tedious waiting for just the home page to load. |

True about the ambiguity. If a Bangladeshi emigrant stumbled upon the report he would be confused as to who actually got killed.
When I read that story last week I was truly sickened, somehow I knew that they would catch the killer(s) because EL is such a small place and those sorts of crimes are uncommon there.

Why do pay so much for free minutes if u don't need them maybe you should be investing in data bundles.
@brix
I also didn't understand why was the mother shot like that, and how the guy survived. We'll see how this case ends.

What was his first name again? I recall his last name was Woods... On a lighter note, i became involved in a heated debate on the radio the other day over Mxit. The hosts of the show hadn't done their homework, and brought 3 teenage girls into the studio to talk about the phenomenal growth of Mxit in South Africa. All these girls could talk about was the chatroom-feature, which sent a completely skewed picture to listeners. Eventually there were parents calling in talking about perverts and all kinds of drivel, without anybody actually mentioning the initial purpose of the application, i.e. instant messaging. Goes to show how the truth is sometimes distorted.

I once saw an MTN 3G advert. It was a something like this
"3G, download 3D games !"
I thought that didn't really explained why 3G. It sounded like 3G is game related.
It didn't say anything about faster data connection.
I'm still against the way some COs does their marketing. |

@bongzino: My earlier point exactly...it's seems either SA consumers are stupid or the marketing departments of the networks are lazy.
Question is how are they going to achieve any sort of critical mass for 3G services when their marketing has been so piss poor.

What gets to me is the fact that our telcos have major moolla to spend on ad campaigns, but those campaigns don't seem to be geared towards nurturing a more cellular-savvy customer base. It still irks the hell out of me a suit sporting the latest and greatest in celltech asks me whether i'm playing games/sending sms when he sees me hovering over my screen. Invariably when i mention internet, the question is asked whether it's expensive, and can his phone do it too. Duhhh.

Iv always said that SA consumers are a bit slow... they only wants whats on tv and what their friends got, or the latest nokia!
Hence the slower sales!
All you have to look for is the V3 sales... its only the looks that sold that phone but look how many have sold... |

One friends asked my why I like SE phones.
I told him that as a computer somebody. I like the way SE support PC to phone and the fact that they've been doing it since /// .
And the way they provide support. eg. developer.sonyericsson.com
I think people need to learn, to understand fones capabilties, they should forget whats on TV.

@bongzino: You just reminded me as to why I love SE so much...the support is phenemonal, the features are generally reliable, and the connectivity of their phones are awesome.
