You know how they are brainwashed by their own government, no wonder they buy their own products.

By the term Developing Nations, doesn't mean China only....
ASEAN Nations, Indian (and other BRIC countries), South America etc
So there are lots of space for Sony to expand its low entry or budget devices
But I think they should Introduce new Brand name for those budget phones or FF OS
Stick with Android, new OS for the entry-levels won't get them anywhere. |

Android is good, but its really hard for them to compete with SS.....for the time being
FF OS is laggy, but still have room for improvement, it also does not required much specs to run=>>> cheaper devices
So i think its better for Sony to offer wide range of OS devices for the consumers to choose (Ubuntu, Firefox, Android and ....hopefully Vita OS )

We all remember when there was only Sony Ericsson and Nokia in the battle
Today we have LG,Samsung,HTC,Apple and Sony
And every year the same battle same strategies
Like s2-s3-s4 and arc-s-z always just improves
We miss this innovation we had old days where every year you get something new
2014 will bring old days -just sayin-
Back to topic:
I think Sony will hold event in April announce the dogo and huasan and the rest beside the C670x
Cuz there must flashgip if a company hold an event
They won't hold it for a mid and low ranges or they could announce them un mwc
So I think they will announce a flashgip too
Opinions??

Excluding India, China's population makes them the majority of buyers for developing countries. If they can't breach into brainwashed China what plus in their market share does the rest give them...? |

Hmmm, that is plausible. Probably why they are so eager about FF, should be good for low-ends. But I'll still stick with Google's.

Nokia tried to bring innovations with their PureView 808 and Lumia 920, it's just that they have fallen so deep and they are hanging on loose soil with WP8. We all crave for something new, and we all hope Sony would bring.
Anyway, C670X I think is scheduled for Q3. Dogo and HuaShan would be enough for Q2.

They'll still have the rest of the world. China's too restricted, they won't be able to penetrate the Great Wall unless Sony offers their phones for the government to spy on its users.
Don't mind my rage, you know how we Filipinos are to China's ridiculous claims on our territories. |

I didn't say Sony should abandon China, it is one of the key market that Sony should consider for future Growth
However, other Developing Countries are also important.... lets see
ASEAN Nations: Estimated Population around 600 millions
India: Around 1 Billions
South America: Estimated around 400 millions
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/[....]erican_countries_by_population
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/[....]ion_of_Southeast_Asian_Nations
They are all the key market for budget phones, and there are still rooms for Sony to have growth in those markets |

I think Sony should stick to premium phones Sony has to be the Apple in Android ecosystem nobody can do better.
How can Sony compete with ZTC,Huawei,Micromax, oppo,Karbonn,Lava,Zolo these companies offer very cheap smartphones. |

I think there are plenty of ways they can do to lower cost (in making Budget Phones):
Outsourcing ODM and OEM to makes budget devices
Corporate with Local carriers and retailers to offer low entry phones?
And the most important: Introduce New brand that only specialized in Budget devices
Leave the Xperia Brand for Mid range and Premium products |

Yea but Nokia always do sacrifices like WP8 and use symbian till 2011
And also its revolution was in Camera(not important for everyone you know)
About c670x it's rumored to be released in the middle of the year which the announcement should 2 months before
Which meets in the April event which Sony will hold
Don't you think so? |

Unless they are targeting the ultra-low-end/really dirt cheap segment, it would not be necessary for a new brand name or OS. Probably miro or tipo cheap, no deeper and they would lose the Sony premium feel down there. Besides, I haven't seen any cheapo device or TVs from Sony. They all look and feel premium.

I think I remember pages ago, probably quoting zomgbbqftw or someone else, that Sony would not be doing that 2-month-after-announcement wait anymore like how they had been doing. So, I guess Q3 for C670X, the same month for announcement and release.

The strategy should be the same. Bring good innovations in mid-range devices. Like back in days, we had cybershot & walkman phones while the premium was touchscreen. That was a very good strategy since it was diversified neatly and the products stood out in it's own way.
T200 -> T68i -> T610 -> K700i -> P910i -> W800i -> P990i -> M600i -> P1-> Nokia E71 -> X1i -> X10 -> Arc S -> Sony Z1 -> Sony Z Ultra -> Sony Z3+ -> iPhone 6 -> iPhone 7 Plus -> iPhone X -> iPhone XS Max |

But don't you think it's useless to hold events for low-end and mid ranger phones xD |

For Sony I think the best event right now to announce the 2H flagship is at E3. Considering the PS4's reveal and the interaction it will have with smartphones it would create a big splash, especially if it has killer specs etc... |

I wish they would make up their minds and focus on one goal. Profitability is more important than market share and premium devices have a greater margin, this is what their recent strategy was said to be.
I'm not sure exactly what is to be gained by being able to bragg that you're #3 in global shipments if that comes at the cost of profitability because Sony just isn't known for hundred million selling bargain basement phones like Nokia is.
