People, need some input...

Got a replacement K750i (recon) from CPW... Some reason its a Asian phone (has the characters on the 1-6 keys and was running Hong Kong firmware?!?!) but the actual problem is this...

Im only able to make or receive about 1 out of 3/4 calls?!?! It hangs and then drops the attempt when trying to call... On incoming it hangs and then either says the number doesnt exist or gives the 3 rising tones?

Ive updated the firmware, now running R1AA008 EU1 as the customisation was EUROPE_4 (so no longer can play with Chinese predictive text...damn!!!)

But still having the exact same probs... Anyone shed any light on it???

Gonna go to CPW to exchange but cant be bothered with the hassle really and would prefer a fix without it! ?(as CPW staff have very poor knowledge these days and i still know more than they do about the industry, handsets and the bloody computer system and i havent worked for the bloody company for two years!!!)

Anyone?

Thanks a lot for ur help ! I went to the SE service centre......they say it could be a problem of battery drainage and so I will have to leave my phone with them so that they can check it out......
They also told me that in case I get a firmware upgrade, I will lose all the data on my phone. Is that true?? coz I read somewhere that in case of the K750i I will not lose my data in case of an upgrade !!
Sorry for asking such trivial questions....am new to all this firmware stuff !!

yep... its what an answer youll expect from an SE technician.. always treating us like were too dumb to understand these things... well anyway, they do have something to fix that stuff.
and incase of upgrade, yea. itll loose some of your files. its called flashing.. in PC terms.. formating.. or reformating stuff like that.

but if you go update via SEUS (meaning, online via the net) you will not loose any data... now this you will hafta do it yourself using the supplied cable.

I upgraded my phone thru SEUS yesterday....however, while the s/w upgrade was being done, i got a message like "Update failed. Please go back to the start". Then my phone went dead for some time. When it came back, the firmware version was shown as R1AA008, with the region being EU while the Customization still shows R1N035 and EMEA_6. The phone seems to be working fine otherwise.
What should I do now?? Please advise !!!!

Oh, dear..it seems that your update process only worked 50%...try to update once again....that's the only thing to do...I just updated my another K750i several minutes ago and it worked perfectly...no problem at all...I used SEUS II (version 2.2.11b) with 1 MB internet connection, Pentium 4, 248 RAM and it took exactly 30 minutes long...although I just made it today..always failed to do so for 5 times last week...thanks God...no problem at all...anyway, updating process is sometimes troublesome because of the PC/laptop itself and the internet connection. Some time ago the SE server was down..so I just waited for 2.5 hours looking at the silly green bars..then nothing happened. I made it today..what a relief... [addsig]

ok.....will try updating again.....my PC/internet config was the same as yours....dunno what happened all of a sudden

I just hope it will not affect my phone !! Is there a possiblity of my phone dying in case the update is not successful? Coz if that is the case then I think I will just leave it as is !!

Thanks !

and yes you have a point there about firmwares mishandles huge capacity MSD. have you tried using other brand in this manner? or if you have a friend who has a K750 why not try your stick on him...

post your report.. me wait...

Unfortunately... i don't!- I set two alarms on my phone this morning to wake me up for my driving lesson, and my phone froze (again!!!) and so the alarm didn't go off! I'm real mad! And this card cost me £80 as well, but won't work properly.

The only thing i can do is to check if other users who have the firmware version R1AA008 have successfully used a 2GB card with over 1GB worth of data, without any problems such as i am having. I have tested my phone with the original 64MB card (which is full) and it seems to have no problems at all. The problems i am having with the 2GB card are listed below:

1) Upon browsing and opening folders on the phone- it sometimes freezes.

2) When receiving a call- the phone freezes, the screen does not change (to show an incoming call alert), the ringtone does not sound.

3) When receiving a text- the phone freezes, the phone vibrates continuously but does not give off an alert sound or bring up a message alert on the screen.

For all problems, once pulling the card out the phone unfreezes. Sometimes when putting it back in, the phone resets and the screen's backlight flashes continuously until i pull it out again.

I thought i'd try this- i put the card in my phone without any data on, my phone doesn't recognise it's in and sometimes freezes (i've tested it by pulling the card in and out).

Do you think the card is faulty?

I had the exact same problem, but SEUSII is unable to update the software properly, so I left it as it is for about a month now and have yet to report any adverse effects...

Is this a K750 problem only? I have a 2GB Sony MSPD on my W800 (R1AA008) and there's about 1.2GB data written on it, and I never had those problems you listed.
