re: volume of music playback on the P990
May have found one reason for the difference in views. Just added some more music to my P990 2GB Duo Pro and noticed the volume was less than my other music. The first batch of music was mostly from my old P910/Nokia 9500 and was encoded using db PowerAmp while the newer music was ripped from CDs using Windows Media Player with a MP3 plug-in - not sure why there should be such a difference but I'm going back to db PowerAmp!

Intreresting Jah, i used mp3gain to increase the volume of my mp3s last night. Went from 100db to 105 db and then played them through the p990i with my hbh ds970 bt headset and they came out all muddied and quite distortive. So i re-encoded them back 100db which i think suits me fine and again found the p990i to be quite low. Whereas my k800i/w910i phones were quite a bit louder at 100db compared to the p990i.
Im just hoping that SE release a fix for this volume limitation. As it was said on my-symbian forums, seems like SE have put in the EU volume legislation to protect peoples hearing which i find quite annoying as they didnt ask me for my opinion lol. |

anyways people, I'm getting a HTC TyTN, 1st time in 10 years that I go non-SE, but sorry, they just have a superior phone/PDA...

Sorry the HTC is more of a pda/phone device , simple as that whereas the p990i is definitely a phone/pda device and plenty of people will tell you that. |

It isnt, whatever gives you that idea??. I have both a p800/900/910i and the p990i to me is slightly thinner than all 3 units and also a bit lighter. The p990i is definitely thinner than the p800 and lighter thats for sure.
Quite funny how some people are slating the p990i when they dont even own one pmsl :P...i think Ares hit the nail on the head with that comment. |

@ Masseur
Was just wondering about the 2, i've had a p990i and a M600i breifly, but not at the same time.
Got a few questions
-Which has the better quality screen, not the size, but which is sharper, shows pictures mor vibrantly etc.
-Is the m600i keyboard easy to use compared to the p990i's qwerty?
I don't really need wifi or a camera so the m600i is perfect, but is it slow compared to the p990i? can it handle as many apps etc.
And could you get a few pics of the m600i next to a p910i or p800
Thanks, much appriciated

@kk.226
just my thoughts and will be interesting to hear from masseur
- I prefer the keyboard of the M600. The M600 keyboard on a flip-less P990 would have been wonderful (but would need the P990 wheel and navi key)
- the smaller pixels (slightly) make the M600's screen appear to be better but actually is very similar to the P990

They are both excellent screens but the P990 probably has the edge over the M600 if I had to pick one.

I much prefer the M600 keyboard and as a very fast typist, once I got my head around the fact that it really was a qwerty keyboard but in minuture I am much more accurate now (approaching 100% at speed) than I was when I first got it

In this respect I'd such its much the same. Initially I felt the P990 was a little slower than the M600 but having used it for a few days now I do think its about the same performance
-And could you get a few pics of the m600i next to a p910i or p800
can't do it right now but will later tonight, unless Jah gets in first

I just updated my P990i with a new firmware and its is faster and it can the browser no longer shuts down if you open other apps... just ran about 6 or 7 apps at once and switched between them without so much as a hickup... things are starting to look even better now... |
