@Gitaroo
Sorry but you will most likely keep dreaming because manufacturers and most consumers already decided. These days a phablet is considered 5.5" to 5.7" and anything above that is considered a mini tablet with phone capabilities as z ultra starting from 6.5" and above. For example, C5 ultra has commonly unfavorable size so they made it a mid ranger as it is not in the forefront of their product line so they differentiate it with an unfavorable size mostly for a niche and the first thing that comes to my mind are girls/woman with purse who don't put their phones in their pants pocket and who are selfie lovers. I won't be surprised if in a year or two no manufacturer will use 6" displays even for niche devices at least until foldable displays will be ready.

thought the early rumor pretty close to what I have described. 6.5" 4K panel is highly possible since Sony can produce their own without going with 3rd party supplier schedule. I can see the camera ending being 16mp, they will probably try to slim it down like how the Z ultra used to be the thinnest phone ever. |

Will you stop spreading false info out of yours or some mobile writers imaginary world?
To be accurate, leaksfly mentioned s820 and a march release and kuroneko mentioned 6.44" and 16mp camera.
Non which could be called reliable source mentioned 23mp, 4000mah, 4k display.
I wrote 4gb of ram because it is an obvious addition for all 2016 devices with s820. |

Then you need to get your eyes checked. I followed all his posts and he did not mention 23mp, 4000mah, 4k display and not even 4gb of ram. |

I don't know about Kuro_Ne_Ko but leaksfly seems credible.
He said couple of times that the first batch of phones using SD820 are Xiaomi Mi, LG G5 and Z5 Ultra. He also went on to say the Z5 Ultra will be released in March. Timing is logical. Guess Sony will introduce tablets and a phablet. 4K display is highly likely. 4 GB of RAM is also. Camera is a blackhole. What I really wonder is will they include a stylus for tablets and their phablet like Apple Pencil. Sony has been producing styluses for a time now, they can very well introduce a pencil that can be used across all devices.
Vaio Z Canvas stylus for example is a Sony product if I am not mistaken.

Anything screen greater than 5.7" is too big for me. You have to take into account the rest of the device. With this in mind, any phone with a screen size greater than 5.7" is therefore too big, for me anyway. I don't know whether to just wait until the Z5 Premium is a lot cheaper or get a Sony phone with a Snapdragon 820 in it - is it revolutionary or evolutionary? Is it really worth waiting for the 820?

Regarding 820, we just don't know... on paper it's awesome.. but the real thing we just don't know...
Everybody was saying it's a good idea to wait for 810 rather than 805... but we know how bad 810 became first and Sony did an enormous amount of engineering trying to avoid it's issues...
And worth it or not is subjective also... it depends on your current phone, is it a carrier contract or not... and if you're rich or not

The real reason the big screens are still in Sony's portfolio is China. In China bigger is better and more showy and appearance is everything. If your phone isn't the most expensive (latest iPhone), it has to be the biggest or the fastest or the best in some other way. So big phones are popular.
Due to the fact it is fir China, it can be of slightly lesser quality and still compete, which means a mid-range price mark is possible, which also keeps it off the mainstream radar of the west where it would be slated for being un-pocketable, questioned for real life usefulness and all the other reasons the original Ultra was put down.
The big phone/mini tablet market in China is huge and well worth keeping a mid-ranged Ultra in the portfolio even if only for China and a few lesser markets.

@thetube leaksfly backing up it's own story of which phones will first get S820 with a timescale that most believe S820 will hit the market, that's just good story telling right? Or have I misunderstood your post.. Not saying that they've not been right in the past (I've not checked facts) but self verification isn't real verification.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

Eventhough 6+ is unfavorable, it really has a niche market. If Sony could put some innovative productivity tools (stylus with better functions or etc) they might do well. I believe 90% of Z Ultra owners will buy a successor if it is released. At work 3 more are waiting (real life statistics ) moreover they should also present the phone with Windows Os for US market. They might make their names heard that way.
@Ricky D
I just checked his other so called leaks, he is kind of spot on %80. He seems like he is an expert about Xiaomi but he knows a thing or two with other OEMs also. Hiuyi also said Z5 Ultra for 2016 MWC (maybe) so when adding them up, I tend to think we'll see a successor this year. If not then well Sony will lose all her Ultra users eventually. It's kind of make or break for them in my small case.
@Gitaroo
Yeah they said that but I don't think it will be worse then the Exynos since samsung will also adopt the chipset...[ This Message was edited by: thetube on 2015-10-20 16:58 ] |
