X1, X2 and X10 are all 65k screens. Isn't that consistency? Anyone expecting 16.7m colours was clearly misinformed.

but still, most of your concern is about the screen, not the availability... |

Amen to that!
No one complained so much about the 65k screen of the X1, in fact some people said it was the best display they'd ever seen. Can anyone point to an Android handset that has more than 65k screen colours? The G1 has a lcd capable of 262k but its limited by the OS to 65k.

Not getting into any argument about difference in screen colours. But i see zero difference between a 262k on a Sony Ericsson to a 16m colour Nokia. I cant see it. So a screen with 65k but with such high resolution its going to look fab anyway
Phone?? What phone?? |

Unlike Microsoft, Google don't take years to upgrade their OS and that's where my interest in having a display supporting more than just lousy 65k colours comes in. I didn't care about that when I bought my Xperia X1 for over a year ago.
Sony Ericsson haven't officially said X10 wont have support for next version of Android, just that UX platform will evovle to it. Still it leaves the possibility open to see X10 running Android 2.0 in a not too distant future after it has been released.
If Sony Ericsson really intend to have a prominent device of the first half of 2010, they should give us official support to Android 2.0 or even better abolish 1.6 completely.
The chances are great that Xperia X10 will be the last high end device based on Android 1.6 while rest are moving to 2.0 and here UX platform wont help.
Sony Ericsson outbest Nokia in the display part, that's not a secret.
I did a fair comparison between my N82 and Sony Ericsson K850 quite some time ago and K850 looked better which kinda surprised me back then.
That was when common resolution was 320x240 which means the display can show 76800 different colour nuances at the same time, so there was no real use of having a display supporting millions of colours
Today we are using WVGA resolution which means 409920 different colour nuances as it is for the X10.
Only blind people wouldn't be able to see the differences here.
