Talking about "Wi-Fi is way to go", I have different opinion. Microsoft officially annonced that they will not many further devices (OS wise) that supports Wi-FI.

The new technology that replaces Wi-Fi is Wi-Max (802.16x). It can give you 34Mb/s (E3) over the distance of 30miles (~48Km)... wow..

NOW, does anyone know if these cell phone manufactureres are making any one of them with Wi-Max interface?

I was also thinking that if Wi-Max comes into picture, we won't be needing thse GSM/CDMA/PCS, etc because Cisco will come up with an IP cell phone , they way they have introduce IP phones and they are hitting all the enterprises networks. If this comes true, then GPRS, EGPRS, WAP, crap... whatever, go to drain... coz IP cell phones will kill it.

Wi-Max is the future!!

well I only took a quick look at the previous posts of this thread and no one has mentioned the fact that the 5140 with the purchase of an extra accessory (basically a "special" facial) has the ability of functioning as a GPS navigation system. This accessory on makes the phone about 11gr heavier, but think of how useful it is for some people. Personally I love SE but I would consider buying this phone only for its GPS ability (very useful in a car, or when traveling abroad).

I just want a simple phone... with 32bit color touch screen, video recording 640x480, 5 Megapixel camera, integrated TV/FM tuner, GPS system, and that shouldnt be heavier than 90g and should easily fit in my pocket...

I'm pretty sure they'll do something with Wi-Max...in 2010!

Guys i don't think the gps clip on is worth while, get a garmin or magellan! Whilst this handset is a step in the right direction i won't be buying rugged again unless its as tough as the r310, has W.L. GoreŽ membranes, a 65k tft, bluetooth and vga camera! Ps nokia, well done for releasing the bluetooth adaptor, even if it is 5 years after the ericsson dba10!
