I joined Esato over 17 years ago and for several years I was on here a lot (I am still in the top 20 for amount of posts). I havent been around here for a long time, I don't relly know why not. I has become rather stangnent. I remember when the latest posts on the front page was all posts from the past few hours, now it is posts over the past few weeks.

@jcwhite Yep, we were all in here everyday jumping between forums happily chatting away. Was loads of fun when we were all really into our phones. We've just all grown up suppose.

I think the fact that there are basically just 2 or 3 OSs now made a huge difference. All the competition and bickering has gone, ha ha.

It's to do with the rise and fall of and the rise and rise of online content due to faster internet.
While there was interest in other phones here it was mainly a Sony Ericsson site and Ericsson was a major part of the appeal. Todays phones don't have the same appeal in their style and user experience, it's all about what social media they can connect you to. Phones have become impersonal devices. The appeal is in the content not the skill of mastering the phone. The content can be found elsewhere.

I miss the huge variety of phones that had in it's portfolio. There was a lot to discuss back then.

Thinking of the K750i, one of the most hyped phone if not the most one that year.
Mini sites with aggressive music and first with auto focus and "real" camera feeling with its sliding cover.
GH688, T28, T39 and T68 Nokia 6110, 8110, 8850, 6230, N82 Moto V525 and RAZR V3 Samsung T100, S300 and E700 T68, T610, Z600, T630, K700, S700, V800, K750, S600, M600, S500, P1i, K850, X1 X10, Vivaz |

I remember the hype. Hundreds of posts a day in the Rumours Thread Then someone would post an image and the site would almost go down.

Just a dipping in after a few years out.
I also miss the old portfolios, with two dozen phones, each one different to all the others.
I would like to see the Sony Pro-I with more of the Pixel 6's software gadgetry and fewer digits before the decimal point in the price tag.
That would be killer and would have my business back.
I'm rocking a 2.5 year old Oneplus 7 Pro at the moment. Only decent phone with no punch-hole/notch.
I'd have bought the Xiaomi Mix 4 if there was a global version.
Sony have lost a little bit of inspiration in recent years, they need some inspirational decisions to be made.
As for Esato, I think a few CSS edits and the site would feel more modern (mods/owners I could take a look if you want).
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |
