I disagree!! Do you know what the materials used are?
It definateley stands out!!! I think!!!

Vertu:
Leather
Liquid Metals
Platinum, Gold
Ceramic
Ruby
Sapphire crystal
Shock-mounted suspensions
...

Blackdiamond:
Polycarbonate
Metal

Blackdiamond (just a concept phone) only could pretend a competition against Nokia 8xxx series.

@Arez

Just pointing out facts, that for some may be hard to recognize...

And just face it, Vertu is a huge success and achieves excellence in such mobile phones. Once again, Nokia was a pioneer there.

One thing you guys are forgetting is that the black diamond is at conceptual stage currently,if chose to make it they may incorporate the elements the Virtu has into the black diamond,so the end product may turn out even better than what the virtu currently is. [addsig]

@axxxr

I didnt forget about that (see my post).

Good luck to though if they want to do that...
So far the blackdiamond isnt convincing in this area (exclusive phones) even if they would manage to do wonders. Polycarbonate bugs me a bit

I wouldnt say it's ugly.
But its a bit disturbing and unbalanced somehow. The keypad and the screen being offset like that make it look awkward.

And that SONY logo on top is a bit strange too. Not to mention the Sony Ericsson font which is not the right one.

I think SE should get back to the Scandinavian designers again and see what they could do. As it is now the phones is taking a more "Asian" look and that disturbs me...

For example what's best designed: A SAAB, Volvo or a Toyota, Subaru, Hyundai etcetera, and which one has the best quality? We all know the answer…

I want to see more metals (aluminium), composites ect...

I don't care about the price, weight... I want a good looking phone that I proudly can tell people is a Sony ERICSSON

You missed the two best designers in the world!! German and Itallian!!!
But then again Siemens and Grundig is German and they crap!! IMO

Therefore rendering you argument... useless!!

I like it, its sexy, who cares if its not made of exotic expensive materials!!! Thus making it affordable to most people, thats the key IMO!!!

SE got 12 "coming soon" phones...

Why not make a 13th that costumers with a sense of quality can buy? Or maybe actually make the P-series alot better

What i'm saying is, SE got a phone for almost every soul, why not have one for every?

I agree with you.
It's not meant to be a Vertu-like thing, just a high-end phone has never ever had, with great materials and build-quality, yet affordable to many.

The answer to the question raised "could this be the answer to Vertu?" is obviously no.

Half the world doesnt even know that the Vertu exists, so why challenge it? They know about the 8800 and thats what should be targeting!!

I think more than half the world knows that vertu exists. And it is a good idea to create competition, because there will always be people who will choose an alternative (SE in this case)

but whether that choice can make SE profit or not is another question
