cycovision, nothing against amd per se, but find intel more reliable and durable.

My PC collection:

My machine machine:
AMD 64 3k+
1 Gig Ram (kingston)
Gigabyte SLI board
Lian Li PC 86 case

drives: 1 * 40, 1 * 120, 1 * 80, 5 or 6 * 200 Gb (sata / pata)

Out putting to my home theatre system or a seperate technics 5.1 system. (I need base, loud skin crawling crashes and sound you can feel )

Alpha DEC 2100 dual CPU server (see above lol)
Celeron 500 (apprpriated from a former employee.. sits around gathering dust too)

joebmc, over the years the price differential has virtually disappeared.

AMD chips have a slower internal bus speed, slower fsb, and run much hotter. They are a compromise by AMD to make a chip cheaper than intel can.

Now that peeps think AMD is some sort of Chip making God, AMD have started to expect the same price for their chips as intel.

It's very smart how AMD get 3700 MHz of performance (compared to an intel 3.6GHz for example) out of a "3700" 2000MHz chip. However the trade off is heat, masses of it, and I still don't think the AMD's are as fast a Intel except in some very specific situations (such as gaming). Still for the same performance in games, the intel will run shitloads cooler.
