@MNX1024

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the reason that the C6602 is the only version of the Z sold unlock in the US is because the C6606 version only have Band 4 and no Band 17. For at&t user, Band 17 is very important. AT&T may have Band 4 but it's limited. So, what's the point of selling C6606 unlock if you can only use its LTE network on T-Mobile. You might as well buy one from T-Mobile at a cheaper price. For an at&t user, why would I buy C6606 if I cannot use it's LTE, I might as well buy C6602 coz either way, I can only access HSPA+ on both phones.

Whereas the Z1 C6906 actually have the LTE Bands 4 and 17 which is necessary for at&t users. For T-Mobile users, any of the LTE versions of Z1 which are C6903, C6943, and even the C6906 because all of them have Band 4.

Also, you can actually buy both C6502 and C6506 unlocked in the US. Sony is selling C6506 unlock on their website which is compatible with at&t. I think you got the numbers mixed up on the Z(C66XX) and the ZL(C65XX).

Luminance noise isn't as distracting as the one we saw previously, TBH it's alot better this time

now, you can really see the benefit of having more megapixels. many texts you may no be able to read can now be read. it's not yet on the 1020 level but it's definitely better than every other flagships available now.

you can't really say more megapixels mean nothing. those details prove that there are benefits in adding more megapixels.

I would be even more surprised if this managed to tie up with 1020 especially when comparing Z1 @8mp with 1020PV@5mp.

Daylight shots will be even more interesting after these new samples

BTW, the pic below is sizzling hot

Finally got to feel and play with Z1 and QR10 today 5 hours ago, in Sony Style Shanghai. I must say: I'm impressed!

Design: It feels soooo good in the hand. the DETAILS like diamond cut edged with alilumium, the power button ofcourse so small but elegant!, I love it!! I will choose personally for PURPLE., its really not girlish as some of you guys might think. A bit of darkish-purple very stylish! All together, damn the PREMIUM feeling is right there!!

Screen: The screen is good, very clear and sharp, especially pictures and videos. I have not seen any white-ish thing that you see in those review hands-on videos. so I see NO problem with angles. you really have to see the phone and screen with your own eyes. Seen via a video or photo is really different, due to noise, compression and so on..

Camera: I took lots of pictures all seem very good to my eyes. maybe I cant judge enough until I put it onto my computer. The photo app functions are awesome.. especially Time Shift and AR, very practical and funny.

Other stuff: no lag at all playing Temple Run 2(too bad no high-end game working on the phone) or navigating around.
It's just very fast. The new themes are quite refreshing as well.

Conclusion: it just feel even more premium if you hold it in your hand. even more than Z ultra IMO. Just smaller.
Ultra main selling point is to WOW people with its big big screen. awesome as welll ofcourse.
But to me Z1 is really the best phone out there with design, quality materials and the best android phone camera you can get. wanna get more pro at shooting? get yourself the Q100 and bamn, you will be satisfied. Z1 rocks!!

PS: forgot to mention, in China its 4999RMB with the charging DOCK. if you pre-order now, you also get a sony portable battery of 5000mah, and screen protector.

I would like to see the Zoom in photos, in video it was bound to be not so good being digital... :/
Look here...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jn2yLRNyWmg
This is nokia 1020 zooming during video... definetely better... but the nokia video is always searching for focus, all in all it's a bad video, and the stabilization (taken the fact the the Nokia guy was still, while the Sony guy was continously moving) is better on the Z1..
All in all I prefer the Z1 Video
look at this taken outside

Surely great shots... and the Phone lloks so hot I even like the Purple One this time...

In this shot the Z1 is superior to the 1020...
but in the others the 1020 is better, but not so so much as I excpected they are almost on par...!!!
I'm so happy with the performance of the Z1!!!

Look at this shot in motion awesome!

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF TECH!!!

If T-Mobile decides to offer the Z1 as an exclusive, then it will be impossible if you prefer nonbranded/unlock version of it. Like you said really wish the internal storage was a lot bigger.

impossible to get a Z1 C6906 unlocked (NA/US bands) because of what Dacha said, they're pulling the same joke that happened with the Z C6606 (LTE NA/US bands), no unlocked version available, only one carrier exclusive (T-Mobile) so if you're with somebody else (carrier) you're out of luck...no unlocked version to be found anywhere...
@MNX1024...my AT&T plan $85+change (unlimited) and that's for 2 lines, so you see why I'm not jumping wagon

the C6602 is the HSPA+ NO LTE bands, the C6606 is the NA/US (North America/ US version) with the correct LTE bands working in those regions, so if C6606 is exclusive to one carrier everybody else not part of that carrier is left with one option being not LTE, an unlocked C6606 will work on all NA/US LTE bands...C6502 and C6506 are unlocked...great it's the ZL, but what about an unlocked Z C6606 (if you find one let me know) or an unlocked Z1 C6906 (if you find one let me know as well )

I think this one is at 8mp mode, but still, it looks good, considering it's being pitted against a large sensor, oversampling enabled 1020PV

looks good, considering what I pointed out previously as the weak NR algorithm on the Z1 not unable to remove luminance noise.

One thing I noticed is the visible fringing and clipped highlights on the marked (cicular red) portion below on 1020's image, which is not as pronounced as the Z1's

front camera(selfie) performance looked less noisy compared with the other two
