They take the piss with thier responses, dont even answer the question, then put a line in
'if you have ny further questions please ask'

Little info from 
K700/K500 Emmall software R2AA003 has been removed and shall not be used!
A new and improved SW will be released and available W43.(Has not comed yet).
R2AA003 software causes PC sync and othe communications issues between Pc and K700/K500.
There will be a new software sun

Tried updating my K700i online with my DSS-20 but I've only gone as far as the "Please Wait....Checking the installation of Sony Ericsson Update Service..." page. Tried waiting for 20 minutes but no go. Is this what you get when the service is down or do you really have to wait a long time?
Already turned my firewall and pop-up blocker off. I'm on Windows XP Pro SP2. Any other remedies? Thanks
Edited to add: Sorry just read the previous posts, guess its a Java problem, I'll see what happens

most likely you havent install java... go to www.java.com, download java software, install it and then give it a try again.

i have a unlocked k700i that used to be on vodaphone
i bought a dss 20 so i could do the online update as when trying to bluejack it used to say connecting and would just hang and they only way to stop it would to switch the phone off
i was told a firmware update would do this - i have setup the dss 20 and went to the download the update and got this message
"there is currently no service for devices belonging to your operator"
i have windows xp home with sp2
would i have to get my k700i unbranded before i am able to update - i am using my o2 pay and go simcard |

I also had this problem and it was a firewall issue. Make sure u disable all norton/windows and other third party firewalls. I disabled norton and it still didnt work, there was something in sp2 which had a firewall as well. just disable everything  |

Yes it was a Java issue and after installing Java Runtime, everything went perfectly and I now have R2L001

Yes, I did disable the resident firewall(this was my only firewall) of SP2 and the pop-up blocker beforehand. Thanks
For those who were asking in previous posts if anyone has done this on Dial-Up, I did the update on my Dial-up which has a slow 33.8 Kbps connection, it took me about 3 hours or so overall. Yeah, I know, I should get broadband, but its still not available in my province.

i have just turned off norton firewall and went into control panel, security centre to turn off windows firewall and this cam up
"windows firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. do you want to start the windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS) service"
i click yes and it says it cannot connect the th ICS service
i need to turn both off as turning only norton off will not let me update my k700i |

Hi everyone, i tried also this update service, but allways got the following message " The application reported an undefined error "
I got this after this page:
"Preparations completed
Application starting...
The application will soon open in a separate window. "
Have a windowsXP with SP1
My first idea was that i have to disable my firewall, but the same again.
Any other suggestions? HELP me pls |
