this announcement that Tom Tom will be released for the P900 is 100% shure?
I'm planning to buy a P900 and I would like to get rid of my pda with TomTom3 (which of course works fine but don't wanna carry tons of equipment). One of the things is that the P900 'must' have TomTom mobile......
Hope to 'hear' from you!

please remember that unlike the P910i the P900 cannot inherently link to a the BT GPS and a BT headset at the same time. The P910i can use three BT devices at the same time (e.g. keyboard & headset).

I have Wayfinder! I LOVE IT! Be aware that I use navigation systems for already 8 years. Wayfinder is extremely presice, their maps are realy always up to date! GPRS loading is minimal if you set your temp mem correct and load the cities on card. Its quite fast in recalculating!
In a nutshel, its better than TomTom, its even better than the system in my Audi-A6! Why? Its allover more precise and up-to-date! |

Het komt niet voor deze telefoons: P800, P900
Maar zodra het wel voor UIQ komt (andere toestellen dus) is het er wel simpel op te zetten. (Althans zoals het nu is).
Alleen moet je een geintje uithalen, komen we nog wel op zodra het zover is.
Graag dit niet ergens plaatsen of in het engels vertalen

Though it's true that Wayfinder is very up-to-date.
With the TomTom test I had the latest maps but a total new neighbourhood wasn´t in it.
Wayfinder is allways up-to-date and you can add always new situations for the program.

You can use the stereo headset that comes with the P900 to hear Wayfinder instructions, if you use Wayfinder, and take phone calls. Not sure what would happen with Tom Tom.

The notion that Wayfinder maps are always up to date is not quite true.
At least not for London, United Kingdom.
If you go to my posts at My-Symbian under the Wayfinder Mobile thread you will see the mapping errors that I have detailed. And both of them are pretty bad in my opinion.
Secondly, I think Wayfinder should give you the option to have the entire mapping on your Memory Stick. The way they run their system is brilliant for phones with low memory availability but is unecessary on phones with larger memory available like the P910.
Also by using gprs you are introducing other variables that can go wrong:
1. gps - you could lose connection with satellites (a common possiblity with all gps systems)
2. gprs - if there is no network coverage you have no navigation.
3. Wayfinder server - if that goes down, again no navigation.
To my mind that is just too many variables that can go wrong. For those of us with larger memory capacity we should be given the option to reduce the reliance on gprs and the Wayfinder server i.e. entire mapping stored on memory card.

I've been using Wayfinder for nearly 11 months now and I use it about 2/3 times a month for business trips and once a month for social trips. I have never had a problem with the Wayfinder server while on the move, but for a while I did have a problem with the initial route download (for about a month), I have only suffered lack of GPRS coverage a few times and it has been very rare to lose GPS coverage (as I do not need to use Wayfinder in built-up cities). On the whole, Wayfinder has saved me a lot of hassle and I think the upfront cost of UKP250 (I think it is cheaper now) was worth it (I use the web application to ensure I have all the destination data correct before I set-off). I have used Wayfinder with my P900, P910 and Moto A920. With the A920 Wayfinder is impressive as it uses the built-in AGPS leaving the BT free for linking with a headset.

i've spoken to route66 and they say that their software for UIQ is out very shortly - do you know if this will be before ceBIT? |

TomTom Mobile doesn't allows you to make screenshots (I mean the program itself) ask someone with S60 or Windows Smartphone version they also can't.
I made some pictures with my camera of it but they won't be very happy if I show them here!
I don't know for 66.com but I've heard they are also betatesting so it's almost ready. TomTom took UIQ back out of the freezer so maybe we will know more on Cebit |

I have used tomtom before and love it.
Until i read this thread i was going to buy the route 66 software for the p910
Have you played with both?
WHich is better and why?

TomTom is almost available for both... Series80 very quickly but for UIQ it will take a little bit more time.
Yeah I played with both: Route66, TomTom (series80 and UIQ).
I cannot say which one is better just what you prefer, but you will have to say what you prefer before I can answer. |
