SE UK have gone quiet on me too! I think I have them scared.

They gave me the standard bullshit like get the latest firmware loaded or send the handset to the UK repair shop (ACR Logistics). I spoke to ACR directly and they haven't a clue about this reboot failure.

This is major design flaw and is present in ALL S700i phones which I have tested. I've done a little investigation of myself - I have narrowed it down to the memory stick interface with the phone. The phone doesn't reboot if the Mem-Stick is removed. I still don't know if the cause of the reboot is a power spike on Vcc (pin9) or if SCLK (pin8) is getting screwed by stray noise reradiated from metallic surfaces.

After upgrading to R3M008 there are bugfixes but my S700i does still reboot if placed on a large metallic surface. Not tried a laptop yet. I did notice that it will not reboot and run fine if I have the phone on slient/vibrate mode though!!!

Silent mode doesn't make any difference. It still reboots on all sorts of metallic objects - NOT GOOD!

Has anybody out there had this S700i/K750 problem successfully fixed? or are SE still scratching their heads on this one?

Guess what?

Regressing back to FW rev R3F008 fixes this reboot bug! ... complete with all it's other bugs which were fixed in R3K and R3M.

Does anybody know if SE are working on another S700 FW release with all the major known bugs fixed?

Finaly got my email fom SE saying they have a fix for the reboot problem, they sent me a jiffy bag to send it off to ACR Logistics once again, the phone was gone for aweek, got it back and yeah no problems sofar, done afew tests which made it reboot every time but think they got it this time, was told they replaced a resistor inside the phone.
Anyone that has this reboot problem should now be able to get the fix.
Thanks for all your support im sure SE would have been looking in

So the fault was due to part on the pcb worth about 0.5p?

A resistor !! If they were into cars there would be an expensive Product recall. @SE4Me- Do you have more dets on this? The SERV Center guys here are a lil out-dated to say the least. So how do I make them understand whats conked off ?

Hi se4me,

After receiving your handset back from ACR, please can you check to see what FW rev it has now. My one came back with the long-outdated R3F008!

Do you have more details of this resistor fix?

I have stopped using my S700i because it is shuting down and reboots itself all the time! people cant reach me anymore.. i have downgraded do my old T630 but that phone is also rebooting and shuts down!

why are all those SE-phones rebooting and shuting down??
My nokia phones never did those strange things. they just ran and ran and ran..

What can i do for my S700?? i want to use it..
