I have now running 2.1 on x10 mini for a week.I do not think I`m gona upgrade.The benefits for my phone usage are not
that big.
pros: Better colour,more app`s.
cons: Akward slide lock.Google voice recognission dosen`t understand me any longer while dictate sms message and mail.
And still blue apperance. |

I am reporting on my x8 so far. I am finding battery life to be the best out of all the current Xperia's I have owned them all so I know. I get about 2 days with fairly heavy usage. Overall reliability has been excellent with no crashes or freezing,I also do not get any lag now it seems better. Love the design & feel,the screen is lovely & very responsive,music player sounds great with supplied headphones,camera is not at all bad for fixed focus & internet is smooth too. Overall I love it just wish it had auto focus & flash

I have a question: How long does battery last in Yours X8?? I have dx TopPro installed and today i had to charge battery twice. It's strange for me.

Just imagine how better it will get with 2.1.  AFAIK, the camera is the only considerable drawback. |

Yeah,not too fussed at the moment but if  had put a better cam on this x8 it would be massive in terms of sales. But I think it will still sell well. Just to note a couple of photos taken with the x8. Pictures look more sharper on the screen after they are taken

This phone is suppose to compete primarelly with the price, not the functions (although it is a pretty competent phone in this price range). With a better cam I bet it would have been priced higher, perhaps even a bit higher than the minis.

I guess with a better camera it would be in price range similar to Vivaz, and maybe it would be called X9.
But still the photos posted above look pretty decent for 3MPix fixed focus.

[i] I can keep it alive for three days.Not a heavy user. I use juice deffender set to sync every 30 min in Gsm network(mail,wheather,stocks and full screen lightning).3 g widget on adw home screen.Just toggle when you want to browse the net.  |

I am not surprised it has a glossy back cover because X8 is designed to look and be low-cost phone and SE are usually using soft-touch material for more expensive phones.
yeah i knw it is a low cost phone...however d white 1 has soft touch... |

@hsheth09 No, white X8 for sure does not have soft touch back panel.
More info from SE on X8 black availability for certain markets:
"For the Nordics and Baltics the latest info says that the Xperia X8 Plain Black will be released during the first quarter of 2011 and it's not impossible that this launch info can be the same for other markets.

any fresh info on the update? I'm more keen now that I've seen 2.1 on a friend's mini. Also looking to see what the subsequent 2.1x update brings.

It looks nice though still prefer my white one. Of all the Xperia range I have prefered this one out of all of them even the big X10
