Well this is what they told me this morning:
Dear Sir,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.
With regards to your enquiry,
The update service is still getting worked on and should be available shortly.

Will it be possible to update k700 firmware with a usb cable and the DESK SPEAKER STAND (CSS-20) ?
CSS-20 is the same accessory model number as a sync station right?

No, as we have said a few times in this thread, indeed there are pictures from the update service when it was working showing this, it must be a DSS-20 or DSS-25
the CSS-20 is only a hands free speaker

Ya with the CSS-20, you still need a data cable to transfer / sync to the phone. If that was the case, you would also be able to do the firmware update with just a data cable direct to the phone.
At this stage no one knows for sure, but the odds on being able to use it are pretty low, since on the "demo" site DSS-20/25 were listed as requirements. |

the DSS-20/25 requirement is the same for the online P900 update too and for the P900 update you similarly have to tick a checkbox confirming you are using one of these, although it actually then goes and checks for itself anyway

you must be able to get them, if not as an accessory then as a replacement part as they come with the P800 and P900

can anyone tell me how quick the transfer rate between syncstation and pc is in comparison to a usb cable or serial cable connection?

might just be my computer was running slow, but i tried to transfer a whole MP3 would take about a min via BT, but the transfer bar on the pc hadn't even moved after 30secs using the dss-20/25

geez! if the upgrade is only possible via syncstation it's not really an advantage if you didn't already buy it:it costs 50$ while you get free upgrades for 1 year in se centers! if only it was possible via IR or BT like Siemens does... |

i paid about £15 for my sync station, like said though if the BT is being upgraded during the update, it will be impossible to use the BT to receive the info from the PC.
