@Wanqa

Did you see that Opera mobile has been released for UIQ? I downloaded it and am still trying it out.

I hope Opera9.5 is not as annoying as Opera8.65. After the Nseries and Eseries phones got FlashLite3.0 and native Widgets support in the built-in S60 Safari Web browser Opera8.65 became completely useless, when loading a page with Flash content it would crash, it would not finish loading a page and some times just give a blank white page. I deleted it, but il check out Opera9.5 once its out for s60. EM did you ever try out the Webkit based UIQ web browser? Apparently it worked similarly to the S60 Web browser.

@GUCCI

No, haven't tried the Webkit. Maybe I should give it a go.

The Opera 9.5 mobile for UIQ has widgets installed as well which is nice. So far I've picked up the one problem, ie, the exit (X) button actually loads a page instead of exiting.

I think I saw Opera 9.5 for S60 when I was downloading this one. I swear I saw that.

Im sure things will improve in the final Opera9.5 version, so far it sounds good. Nope the only Opera Mobile for S60 right now is 8.65 in that link where you got 9.5. Maybe you saw the WM one.

Yep, things should indeed improve.

Sorry about the S60 Opera 9.5, I thought I saw the current version but went back and saw it was 8.65.

These guys are gunning for Nokia and they are looking good. The fact that they are churning out phones every month or so makes it even more than a challenge to Nokia.

I said this before that come next year around the third quarter Nokia lead will be compromised by Samsung.

I have just one problem, i want a phone with a good camera, AND at least 640*480 30fps or better video recording... And most got the good cam, but neglects teh video recording...

I am happy to see more manufacturers attending the issue though.

I doubt it. With the 5800XM, Nseries Touchscreen, and this new COMES WITH MUSIC thing with unlimited Music Downloading coming soon i think NOKIA dont have too much to worry about, but ye they should keep a close eye on SAMSUNG. Another thing is dont SAMSUNG have to pay royalties to NOKIA to use S60? Im sure NOKIA are pocketing quite a lot of dough from LG AND SAMSUNG.
Rhino
Most new NOKIAs and SAMSUNGs do 640x480 (VGA) 30FPS video recording. Unfortunetly the hardware used in the SAMSUNG Symbians as well as by the NOKIA N82, N93, N93i, N95s and E90 is the TI OMAP2 which has the PowerVR MBX2 graphics chip. That chip can only handle up to VGA 30FPS video recording and playback, thats as far as they can go until the TI OMAP3 is out, atleast as far as i know.

In the short term, yes, they have nothing to worry about but in the long run they have one hell of a fight on their hands.

We'll see next year. I do see Samsung picking up a few % of Nokia's market share.

Honestly, I wouldn't touch a Samsung or an LG no matter how well specced they even if a gun is put to my head.

The one thing Samsung are cashing in on is targeting women and it is paying off handsomely. A lot of women are unlike us men who want a perfect balance of features, all they want is a pretty phone and that's it.

@HOBBS

I will buy from any manufacturers except those two. In fact, I'm considering trying a Blackberry. I feel the Koreans have a long way in making a phone first. One reason I struggle with WM is because it isn't essentially a phone first then PDA. Nokia, SE, Motorola are still my main pool of selection when it comes to mobile phones then the like of Blackberry and Apple come into play.

Yep, id never get a SAMSUNG OR LG. If i want to get a S60 il get a NOKIA if i want WM rather get a HTC lol, otherwise you're gonna run into incompatibility issues just like the Samsung S60s have done with some S60 apps.
