I'll probably go down the spare batt and desktop charger route I think, I'm not sure if I can get my firmware updated for free as I bought my phone off Ebay (new from UK seller, I suspect an unwanted upgrade) and have no receipt for it. Could I get it done at a service centre for free still?

If I have to pay Ģ25-Ģ30 to get it done, I'd pay the Ģ7 for the spare battery - a little more inconvenient but a much cheaper option

What is this primary charge that people keep talking about? I charged my phone before use, turned off, for 12 hours, is this it?

BTW, I called SE, and they said that a primary charge thing did not exist for the new models like the K700i, they said you could charge it until the battery was fully charged, and that was it.

And though I used the phone for 3 days, I see that the battery life really is low, I mean even if you only talked and sent messages, and nothing else, I doubt it would last for more than 2 days.

How about using the Nokia BLD-3 battery in the K700i?!

In another forum I visit, one member (thanks bien2) suggested this and it seems to work for his phone. Quote "With light usage, batt life is about 4 days before the batt indicator goes red, that is still about 1/3 of the way full."

bien2, if you are reading this, I hope you don't mind me using your pics here....

I have a BLD-3 Nokia battery. I'd like to try that but I noticed that the terminals on the battery and the on the phone do not line up.

Yes it works with my sister's 3200 battery, and even says Optimised Charging when I put it on to charge.

a friend of mine upgraded his firmware to R2L and it increased his battery life by more than 5 times. that should be the simple solution to the problem...

Do we really need the K7 to light up like a christmas tree? I haven't stripped the phone apart (yet), but at a rough guess there are 6 or 8 LEDs around the screen plus 4 or so for the keypad. Maybe on future firmwares we'll have the option to adjust illumination to reduce current consumption extending batt life. Failing that I may be forced to remove a couple of the LEDs to give better life. That's my only gripe about the phone in 5 or 6 months of use!
