All service tests check out - no problems...
I am gonna see how often this happens before I reflash/send away my phone.

Is it happening right in the beginning or anytime?

Is it when you receive a call or make it, or both?

if it's beginning a both, then that's should be the mighty "Cyphering Switched Off" warning sound.

I have it in Vietnam but not in France and this comes from the network not supporting the cyphering of the conversation (there are various reasons, though in Vietnam they are obvious .

I tried to find in many places including here, a way to disable this sound but apparently the only way is to go to a SE service centre and disable (for good) the cyphering function which I'm a bit reluctant to do.

We should ask SE to enable us in a future firmware version to disable the sound as it is really an annoyance.

My 2 cents...

Cheers...

I've checked all that. It's not callwaiting or a mesesage, or a push message, or calendar, or cyphering, or low battery. That beep simply shouldn't be there.

@Vlammetje
I agree, however my problem is - I don't have any replacement phone. I am one of those who only keep one mobile at any given time... The replacement phones they rent out at the service center are all nokias. I don't think I can handle that

I have the same problem (sometimes)... But only when I call my girlfriend's T68i before she picks up the phone... I also had it with my T68m.

No, it's not callwaiting either. Most often, this beep sounds distorted like metal nails against the blackboard, if you know what I mean...

Yeah, both the T68 and T610 say "Hello! Hello!" when the person on the other end is having another conversation with callwaiting enabled. This is different.

u know it might just as well be a hardware issue. had quite a similar problem with my old phone (nokia 8890) and the problem was with the mic.
perhaps the SE guys dropped ur phone or something by mistake when u gave it in for an upgrade coz thats the most likely way to upset ur phone. sounds far fetched but just giving u another option to think abt.

So, if the other person is on the line, you have no way of knowing?
I think this "hello hello" sound might be a network thing.. Whenever I call someone, and they are on the line, I always get this sound + message "callwaiting active" (or something similar).
If I had all the answers, I wouldn't have any questions.

I have this problem as well. It usually happens when I just first starting to connect the call. Its loud enough that it hurts my ear sometimes. It only happens once in a while tho. Sometimes not at all, and sometimes every time.. Blah... happened when I had the R1F firmware and still happens when I have the R1L firmware. Don't know what the problem is either.

Checked everything.
I was born with three legs. In the
middle of my third leg, there's a
dial pad, 65k color screen, ,
and on the tip there's a icon.

@wrath

I changed 5 phones for the last couple of years and from time to time (during a conversation) I would hear this sound. It is anoying but all the times, it would happen when the person I'm talking to is in an area where the network signal is weak or if he is in a too-many-people-in-conversation-for-a-cell-to-handle area in my city or his/my battery is low.

I had a situation when my phone repeated 4 times the last word from our conversation (and of course I didn't get a couple of words after it.. then it continued normally)... it was very funny, tho.

I had these experiences with different gsm phones: sharp, alcatel ot302, ericsson 1018, t65, r600, t68i and with t610 and I don't think it is the phone.

I would rather classify it as a "network jam".
