I bought my phone last weekend from a dealer in Dubai. My software version R1BB041 version date 06/10/2009.
The biggest bug that so far I have identified is random phone restart when connecting to Wifi. Wifi time out is very frequent as well (I'm unable to use fring because of this reason). Sometime phone freezes after launching 5-6 apps.
Today I checked for any firmware update but my firmware seems to be the latest.

That's true!!! Mine has this problem too!!!

And it's impossible to upgrade with OTA becoude option "check update" doesn't exist!!!

if firmware update includes languages, my phone better be able to read foreign characters (ie. when I put in chinese songs, the words show up only as boxes). If the SE phones released this year can't read chinese characters but ipod can...something is VERY wrong, they're practically begging to be considered lesser entities than their highest competition.

When updates are available for the Satio, will the phone be completely wiped like the rest of SE phones, or will it just update certain parts of the firmware?

I'm just wondering what happens to paid-for apps etc., will they have to be reinstalled?

Cheers

If its anything like the Symbian software on the N97 then it wont wipe anything that is already on the handset, and by that I am talking about stored contacts, downloaded themes etc but I dont have any specific knowledge with the stored applications... However I shouldnt imagine that it would be able to leave the contacts and downloaded themes but delete all the apps on the handset...

hope this helps!

I don't think there will be a new FW before a while since SE should fix too much bugs + camera settings
The recurent bug with many Satio users is to set wallpaper theme style to something else than SE style, after a missed call or sms the menu will not be accessible

I cannot explain the reason but WIFI timeout issue is solved by turning on Bluetooth when WIFI is used.

My bluetooth is always turned on... Try to put your phone to "flight mode" and your wifi will start working.
But it's anyways a bug!

Found this info on Facebook satio page.

It seems Sony is updating the Firmware.

A new beta firmware is out on Sony Ericsson's Emma client. A friend had installed it and the equalizer appeared in the music section. have to check what more changes are there.

have seen some users say they have a Facebook app also after upgrading thru EMMA

oh my SE...now we have to download something else to download something else.

Did it ever occur in their Bachelor/Masters/Ph.D genius minds to include Emma in the original softwares...?

Lol dude
EMMA is the Intranet server for SE tech centers, you can't download it
I hope they corrected the Java compatibility bug with previous java apps from SE like Tracker

Like earlier done for K800 and K850, can someone keep updating on firmware availability and the fixes done.
That will be really good. I cannot remember who did, but someone did and I found it to be absolute fab job. May be he was an 'insider', but it helped all people like us who are outsiders.

That person is MWARMER. He has written firmware overviews since T610. I think he gave up on sonyericsson since he had too much trobles with his k850 and switched to nokia. He has been off this site since then.

I agree he was doing a great job.
