could it be any worse?

That sound pretty bad. Sounds like you'd be better off selling your P990 and buying something else.

Me on the other hand would just like to see that old autofocus bug resolved anytime soon, thank you!

RAM is now 15.4 MB compared to around 8 before the update.

Why only 8 MB before update?

Noticed something new.

I tried another update, but was told "You donīt have to update. Your phone already has the latest software."

There must have been something seriously wrong with your P990 if you were getting only 8 MB after reboot !
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

Maratonmannen, so they have fixed at least one bug. Good start... However, I have noticed the Bluetooth version is the same, any improvements with stereo bluetooth headphone volume?

My phone restarted today for "performance improvement" despite having latest firmware (not counting today's release), just switched-on this morning (around 11 hours before this "performance improvement"), running only in flight mode with WiFi (for email sync) but surfing nothing, running SM Pro and Exchange ActiveSync and while staying inside a bag. This phone is mainly used as a PDA, voice call not more than several minutes in the past three months and email sync via WiFi or GPRS. I hope this new firmware will really improve performance, but I may need to wait about a month for this firmware for CDA version of the phone I have.

Just use kulankendi and change your CDA version for 6 EUR (in my case as you will see - 12 EUR). Two days from now and you can have the new fw:-)

When I choose More (Flip cosed) -> Status, it says Available memory 15.9 MB.

But when I check in Tools -> Control Panel -> Device -> Store, it shows 19 MB in use.
