I'm at work today but I'll try and get some pics done and uploaded this evening. First impressions from the couple of shots I took yesterday, outside in good light, was that it was a much better camera than the i900.
The phone comes in the usual Orange branded box with the Orange bumf, manuals, etc. The only branding on the phone is a small, less than 1 cm, Orange cube logo on the back cover with the i8910 number next to it. UI wise from the menu view (not a Widget fan) there's Orange World which is the Web Browser with Orange homepage. It doesn't seem like this is changeble but obviously I can add bookmarks such as google. There is also the Orange Music Store that installs as an app when first used. Other than that there's an Orange Maps Widget in the Widgets bar which takes you to the Orange Maps page to download/buy their Sat Nav.
There really isn't much enforced as far as Orange branding goes. I would imagine the noticable difference will be seen when the phone is de-branded and I can see what Orange have removed over the original Nokia/Samsung OS.
thank you for answering my questions. could u also tell where did u buy your mobile phone? was it from Orange direct or other mobile store. wanna get one from mobiles.co.uk but not sure whether the phone is branded or not! |

I ordered mine directly from Orange online. I would imagine the Mobiles.co.uk phones are branded too as the earliest date I've seen is the 25th May for the SIM free units coming in and Mobiles claim to have stock already. I could be wrong though. |

Digging about on the Orange website and clicking the 'orange recommends' link
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop[....]nds/paymonthly?WT.ac=ACSPALL_L
clearly advertises the 16GB internal memory! (you even get a fancy flash annimation when clicked on) Yet click on 'more detail'
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop[....]ung_i8910hd/detail/pay_monthly
then shows the 8GB version being stocked.
Anyone who's actually recieved their HD direct from Orange like to comment on which version is being shipped? Thinking as this is Orange we're talking about is probably just a glaring mistake on their website!!!

Thinking the 16GB version would certainly go a little way to justifing the £99 blanket min cost? |

It's an 8gb version from Orange. I would imagine that the "Exclusive" bit is around the 8gb part and that another Mobile company will get the 16gb version. I don't believe the 16gb version has finished final production/shipping yet. So Orange will have the handset exclusively until that time. If I recall correctly they did it with the i900; Orange got 16gb and Vodafone 8gb.

Some Photos from the handset. As you can probably tell I'm really not a photographer , the most I'll use the camera for is MMS pics really. All I do is hold the button down and click.
Everything above is at ISO200 3MP, on a light cloud/sunny day.
The following 2 are 8mp with auto ISO settings. I reduced to 70% and resaved in Paint to upload.

the hinged item is a stand for video playback etc. to save holding, something i found quite usefull on the 5800.00 as the phone supports something like 5 1/2 hours video playback, and the phone is the same size/weight as a baby elephant its something that i think you might find quite usefull. not dissing the phone i have one ordered but just stating the obvious |

thank you very much again! I am with o2 at the moment and the problem with o2 is they don't stock all the latest handset so i am still waiting to see whether they r going to stock the i8910 this time. If not then I will leave o2 and join whatever network which stock unbrand i8910. |

I'm with O2 and have just taken a new contract out with Orange, in fact I'm due to port over today. I like O2 but their policy of not stocking handsets that may take sales away from the iPhone was enough to make me move. I ended up having to buy the i900 SIM free so that I could stay with O2 last year. I couldn't be bothered to do that this time and I've actually got better reception with Orange at home into the bargain. |

hmmm been watching this thread for some time now.
can't make my mind up whether to stay with my hd that I have had for 3 days or to send it back and get to omnia hd.
was looking forward to installing tomtom on the hd or would garmin xt work with this handset?

Garmin XT will work fine. I'm using it on my Nokia 5800 which is also a fully touchscreen S60 5th edition.. (and I prefer the Garmin over the TomTom)... just be aware that if you have a slighter older version of the XT software, you'll need the latest (free) update from the Garmin site for full S60 touchscreen compatibility

I prefer Garmin to TomTom too but I've just tried the lastest 5th Edition version on the HD and it doesn't work properly. The touch screen works but where there is an OK/Continue option, such as selecting the language down in one of the bottom corners, it just doesn't respond. |
