I think had the lens cover actually been in front of the glass, or no glass at all it may well have been better. But either way I don't think you can beat a lens cover like the K810/K550 only for a quick point and shoot. It would definately take longer to find a button and press it rather than flick the lens cover down as you draw the phone from your pocket.

And also check the glass for smudge/fingerprints before you shoot. Strange solution.........

Well, I'm kinda wishing SE would change the retail product to match the screen with the one in the video.

If you look at the pics on this site posted earlier, the screen has indeed been stretched as it apears in the video

I want both the T650i and K850i, but I want the blue ones now.

After that review I have gone off the K850 a little unfortunately. I will certainly read the next part of the review after reading every word of the last two parts I will be interested in the conclusion.

The bit about the K860 sounds interesting. It seems believe the design of the camera lens is poor already! A bit of a mistake if you ask me.

The design is PERFECT. For SOO long ppl RAVED that SE was making their Picture oriented phones like REAL Camera's in design & interface. Now it Truly looks like one and you KNOCK em for it? Does anyone remember how EASY it was to messup that little shutter on non-digital cameras? I remember getting a SERIOUS beating, from my dad, for causing a $300 repair back in the recession mid 80's.

I'll get back to you on K850.

Lens is a SMART idea. Think how many ppl had to replace the camera modul on their K750/K800? I'll agree I like the lens cover (not a shutter) is better on K750/K555, but the K850 isn't too bad. Sure finger print magnet, but just like any other glossy phone. The Lens/Glass on the W810, W660i, etc is NOT covered - you'll have dust, lint, whatever on it and it DOESN'T affect picture quality until it builds up over months (Q-Tip does the trick). this way a simple cloth would suffice. just stop eating street meat before using your phone thats all.

K850 is STILL my going to be a solid upgrade. TRIBAND 3 G! 1 phone to rule them all! Reduces costs of manufacturing for SE and shipment of worldwide is seemless not segmented for various markets - maybe 3 for language & keyboard but thats minimal.

Saving a photo & ready to take a next one is slightly faster than the K800/790. Screen is larger, crystal clear, More BT options - USB I'm pissed about but thats ok. Regarding no "PLAY" button, thats what the A2DP Headset is for OR your MBW-150 get it?!!

No, if you look closely at those pics, the K850 has those thick black borders like the one in the official pics.

The design is far from perfect. It would have been better if the movable cover is covering that glass protection instead of the other way around. (Glass protects the lens, cover protects the glass.) This is how they implement lens cover in p&s digital cameras.

The only reason that I could think of why SE put the lens cover BEHIND the glass is to keep K850 from getting additional millimeters added to its already "thick" construction.

Design is matter of taste.
But I can't understand why SE decided to make this phone so glossy?? It's the only reason why I am doubting to buy it.

PS. Dear SE, didn't you know that in real life people don't use a soft velvet gloves to handle with their phone?

Now why would you get smudges on the glass? wouldn't it make more sense to hold your phone by the edges anyway? And yes obviousely not everyones going to agree on the design but I think they've done one hell of a job and crammed in quite a bit in a pretty compact package.

hhmmm. (here we go again). you dont have to clean the protection glass every time you use the camera. (maybe if you have realy greasy hands or something, but i doubt you have that , or ?).

a normal fingerprint dosent destroy your picture (or is it someone who realy believe that). in that case, try this: touch your cell phone camera lens, take a pic, look at the pic. do you see some strange ?. (i dont think so).

(im also convinced that have try this glass many many times, and they probably came up with that the glass was OK. or what do you self think ?

my father have this camera, and guess what, its the same ide, (you find many new cameras whit this protection glass, WORKS perfect)

i guess its a matter of taste, i much prefer the glass cover, so all i dont have to worry about MORE holes for dust to get into the ENTIRE phone, after a while static and dust find a way to love one another, regardless of what you do. so one more sealed surface is better than a gaping hole.

regardless well get bigger screen next year, and better colorways this is an upgrade for me from a RAZR i dont know but i would like a combo of the W960 + K850 but that would eat away at both phones, i may get both eventually ... maybe not. but the 3.5G and 3G is music to my ears, i can just pair my phone to my computer and run, this will be great!

My take is that you guys are going to hold your phone like a PHONE AND also a DIGITAL CAMERA AT TIMES so, when holding it as a phone if without the glass protector, your fingers tend to touch the lens cover, which is fiddly and in two pieces as shown in the pictures of the phone. It is not strong enough to be able to protect it in long time.

Lets imagine an example here. You fiddle your phone(sms wadever),someone accidently pushes you from behind. Your finger accidently pressed into the shutter. The shutter now sustains permanent damage due to it being "fingered". It is now even more vulnerable to dust and scratches from the damaged shutter. THE LENS IS DEEP. Dust gets into the lens. You saw the dust and tried to remove it by blowing. It does not come out, instead you blew a little of your saliva into the lens(due to wasting your saliva on scolding the passerby who pushed you.) Now you tried to wipe it. The lens now gets even worse doesn' it?
