After using my S3 for almost two years now the battery life is one area im getting a little annoyed with S-AMOLED screens.
I know they're more beautiful to look at than a LCD screen, but they either have to have the brightness turned down to have comparable battery life to a LCD screen or just accept the phone will die quickly. I can burn through 40% of my battery with an hours use of Facebook or Twitter and usually the screen is over 30% of that 40% in the battery stats.
Then, friends with iPhones can browse Facebook or Twitter for hours longer with their LCD screen phones. White kills my S3 battery !!!

@etaab, did you ever buy the Samsung S3 extended 3,000mAh battery?? Makes a difference and also doesn't make it much thicker either

Im not into third party battery packs. Plus I prefer my phones naked with no protection on them at all. I just keep my phones in a neoprene case with a Velcro opening so I can use it as it should be.
@ Miss_UK - my next phone at the moment is a complete guess. I know it wont be an iPhone, but whether it'll be a Samsung is highly doubtful. To be honest im starting to think Nexus devices are the best bet as they're finally getting more up to date hardware rather than old hardware that's been out for months, such as the Galaxy Nexus, which really was a S2 with curved edges, if not lesser !

@etaab it isn't a 3rd party battery. Samsung made a 3,000mAh extended battery for the GS3 costs between £20 to £24. It comes with a new back cover and makes it only an extra mm thick.

Bono is talking about Samsung's own Official 3000mAh GS3 battery kit:

Samsung do this for their Galaxy S flagship a good 12-14months after release. The Galaxy S2 got a 2000mAh battery with back cover, Galaxy S3 got 3000mAh as posted, and Galaxy S4 should get something like 3050-3200mAh very soon. Had I not broken my S3 I would've got a Batt Kit myself as I was only planning to get a new phone this year.

That's not too bad then. I wasn't aware Samsung had that in their catalogue. I don't think i'll bother though as im due a new phone in less than 4 months.
I just want a phone which can retain battery even if you spend an hour web browsing. If I web browse on my S3 whilst at work, screen set to auto brightness, like I said the battery can drain a good 30% in just an hour. Sometimes more, which I attribute to the amoled screen as my N8 before it was the same. Ive gotten accustomed to carrying a charger with me or keeping one in my car and at work to keep my phone topped up throughout the day.
When the 2014 flagships come out I'd like to see 3000mAh - 3500mAh size batteries minimum.

If you want a Nexus device just don't get the Nexus 5 it's battery is terrible. Camera and performance is great but not the battery. With your S3 etaab if you've had it for a year perhaps the battery is losing charge now?? Batteries tend to start to depleat quicker after a year

Possibly, but I remember it being that way when it was brand new.
I wouldn't get the Nexus as by the time my contract is up for renewal, it'll be more than half way through its life span.

Sexy. The leather back is really nice to hold. The Note 3 felt good when I handled it, so I guess this would feel better since it's smaller.

Indeed
I wish it came like that from the start, it's going to make for a stunning and highly functional Android mid end this year once the flagships arrive from next month.
