@ mwarner:

1. Install the latest Widcomm drivers, currently 1.4.3.4 (I always use the latest version from any vendor, which I patch to work with any dongle). Note that you must rename bth.inf to bth.bak in Windows\Inf *before* installing these drivers if you are running Windows XP SP2.

Where do I obtain the patch from? And the latest drivers? Cheers

I am not sure if the patch is widely available these days. It was on Jons Guides, but I believe he had to pull it because Widcomm got rather upset! Check your PMs if you would like a copy.
As for the drivers, you can download drivers from whichever manufacturer you like and patch it so it will work with your Bluetooth dongle.

It is possible to patch the files yourself, but the procedure is not for a novice. I used to do it for each revision that came out, until I found someone had made a patch that automates the procedure.

If you want to have a go at patching the files yourself you need to get a hex editor (I think I just used MS Visual Studio and opened the files in hex) and edit the following files:

In C:Program FilesWIDCOMMBluetooth-software
- BTStackServer.exe
- BTTray.exe

In C:WindowsSystem32
- wbtapi.dll

Obviously you should make a copy of them and edit the copies!
After editing you need to shut the PC down, bring it back up in Safe Mode and then copy your edited files back over the installed files.

In the Hex Editor, for each file do a search for the sequence:
83 C4 08 85 F6 0f 85 ef 00 00 00

... and replace the last bit (0f85ef000000) with:

90 90 90 90 90 90

This should effectively disable the security checks. I believe in previous revisions you also had to check for 8BF083C40C3BF5750E3BFD750A and replace 750e with 9090 and 750a with 9090, but if I remember correctly this sequence doesn't occur on the later builds - although I could be wrong! It's been a while since I manually patched a driver set.

As for the drivers, one place you can get the latest drivers is from MSI's web site. A direct link to the driver is found below:

http://us-download.msi.com.tw[....]_bluetooth_software1.4.3.4.zip

Hope this helps!

Mike

@j3k
Thanks for your comments .

@ztariqz
I don't believe the S700 is fully supported in FMA yet, but as I haven;t got an S700 I am not sure what the limitations are. I assume you are using the latest revision 0.1.1.16a downloadble from http://fma.sourceforge.net/ ?

yep... using latest version of software... as i said everything works perfectly fine except for the 'files' option where the error message not found gets displayed... maybe cuz this phone has external memory that the software cant recognize?

great software nontheless

What do you mean by this should effectively disable the security checks, Do you mean it disables the need to enter a passcode ?

I have no problem using fMA as it works just great. My question is when I open the program I get a lot of file not found warnings which are all vbs files, I just have to click okay everytime this pops up and the fMA starts fine and I can use it normally. The popups are just a little irritating at times. Has anyone experienced this, I tried reinstalling fMA a couple of times but the file not found popups still show up on starting the program. I'm using the latest release and even did an online update but with the same "problem". Thanks for any help.

update:

Checked the bug reports in the fMA website. Turns out the problem is a scripting error. You just have to change the word "Script" to "sframework" in line 71. Works fine now with my K700i. Now I can use the remote control scripts that I forgot were there when I first used fMA on my old t68i. Here's a link to the fix http://sourceforge.net/tracke[....]538&group_id=71167&atid=530374

Hello!

I have tried doing a search on my problem here, but I couldn't find anything. Hope I'm not repeating another stupid question here...

While using FMA to connect with my phone everything works just fine, almost. I cannot sync my phonebook with FMA as it justs keep on "syncing" forever...

And really, come to think about it, the only thing I can actually do with FMA is to simply connect to my phone. Wow, that's fun...

Can anyone help me out here?

Hello. i just stumbled on this program while browsing for an idea I had. My goal is to somewhat copy the system that is in the acura TL or any other car with a bluetooth system integrated into it. My idea was to put a computer in the trunk of the car and set it up to recognize a cell phone/pda and this software seems to be nice. I have a flip up screen that will be in the dash which will serve as the monitor. The computers sound will also be running through the cars speakers, so the only question i have left is the function on this software that enables you to make outgoing calls. Is that just a remote function? or can you actually use the pc as the phone, talking through a mic and using the speakers? If so this is perfect, and if not does anyone know of a program like this or if it even exists? The computer will also be running a gps navigation program and a jukebox program so it will serve all the purposes i need in a single device all of which will be controlled using the touchscreen in the front and a few various buttons that i will wire to alt-tab through the available windows.

any information is much appreciated

Skippy.

@HP

FMA recognises personal folders but not the pictures inside them (pictures inside subfolders that is). Meaning you can't assign pictures to contacts if the pictures are inside subfolders.

Also, in order to have pictures popup for my K700i when connected to FMA, I had to manually reasign the pictures from FMA. This doesn't alter the settings in your K700i phonebook though, so you can have the same settings on your PC as you K700i if you want to, but you can also have other pictures assigned on your PC. You must have the pictures in your "Pictures" folder though, not in a subfolder.
