After some problems with the P900, which I thought would be the ideal phone... I decided to go to the T636 and was pretty pleased by its simplicity.

Fundamental problem I found with the phone was that the screen left a bit to be desired and the phone in general was very slow/laggy. I decided to go down the smartphone path, this time turning this time on the rock-solid-tried-and-tested PALM OS based Treo 650.

Pretty much most of my time using the treo 650 was one of the most painful experiences of my life and after getting 3 replacement handsets I finally found a solid piece of hardware.

My car gets stolen, lit on fire, and with my insurance settlement I was able to get into a new 2005 BMW M3 and lo and behold the TREO won't fricken sync with the bluetooth regardless of what I try or what firmware/update I load.

I turn to the trusty t637 and it syncs up really well... problem still being the screen is scratched up, it's old, and it's slow... so I do some research, disgusted with the smartphone path I have been taking, and turn to the next generation Sony Ericsson non-smart phone K750i...

To make a long story short... $500 later, 20 hours of research, firmware updating, and trial and error, my BMW is unable to do anything beyond adding the BMWXXXXX kit to discovered devices and continuously fails to connect or add the address book.

I email Sony Ericsson and they reply with a simple response indicating the bluetooth profiles in the T637 and K750i support each other and are in fact the same and I should have no problems... I took the car into BMW and they looked at me crosseyed and printed out some service memo saying the phone isn't listed as compatible (gee thanks!) and are definitely not capable of troubleshooting a bluetooth issue...

Please... someone... keep me in mind... my spirit is broken and I'm laying here in bed with $1,000+ in cell phones that don't pair with my new auto... incidentally, I have more phone charges and screen protectors than humanly imaginable...

Please... help.... anyone... ET phone home... *gasp* *choke* *sputter* ...

Hi,

I got the same phone (K750i) with the same car (2005 M3) and have the same problem. I am able to 'ADD the BMWXXXX' to my K750i but it never get connected/pair. My T610 works fine with the M3, not sure is the problem coming from the phone or not. Are you able to connect and pair the K750i to the 05 M3?

Thanks!

I never ended up solving the problem, unfortunately.

Flashed the phone to the newest firmware and also took it into BMW to see if they could update the ULF firmware or somehow get it to work.

I tried some cool Nokia phones as well and managed to get it to dial and converse through the BMW system, but the address book never worked.

I ended up going with a black RAZR v3, which I am really enjoying. Word of caution, I originally tried to pair an unbranded RAZR v3 (from FRANCE) and it WOULDN'T WORK. I was about to blow my brains out at this point, but I had the phone flashed the a US CINGULAR firmware and it works pretty damn flawlessly now.

Our bluetooth systems is VERY VERY bitchy and I'm pretty much not impressed. If it wasn't pre-installed all nicely, I'd rip it out in a heartbeat.
