The instant messanger side of it is Network dependant so your Service Provider must support it for it to work.

I don't know for sure but I don't think T-Mobile support it yet but may depend on which country you're in. I don't think they support it in UK anyway

Yes, they do all support it, because they don't have to support it. They can only block it.
On a Dutch forum I started a Topic about 'My Friends'. For the Dutch people around here: you can find it here
Here is the translation:
Universal Messenger for your Mobile Phone:
MSN/ICQ support available right now ook!!!!!
Wireless Village (WV), a part of Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Developed a Open Source way of Instant Messenging (IM) on your phone.
So, Wireless Village (WV) is a IM for your mobile phone. You can send short messages from your mobile phone to another mobile phone, or to a MSN or ICQ account. You will have add people to your 'My Friends' list to make it work like a normal MSN messenger.
One of the biggest advantices is that you'll only have to pay for the amount of used GPRS data, that will probably alott cheaper then the high costs of SMS.
The SonyEricsson T630 was the first mobile witch had Wireless Village support, en intergrated it in there 'My Friends' list. Sadly a few providers have erased the option to use WV. In The Netherlands T-Mobile have erased WV out of the T630, and the Dutch K700 is released without WV, probably work of our providers. The providers could maybe see this as a thread to there massive incomming from SMS-messaging
Wireless Village managed to get there piece of software in allot of new mobile phones. So it can be a very big piece off future if the support won't be blocked by the powerfull providers.

Where can I find Wireless Village?
SonyEricsson calls it: 'My Friends'
I don't now all the ways to find your option to get to 'My Friends'. But the pictures under here shows how to get there with your T630 or K700
What kind of settings do I need to make my mobile to use 'My Friends'?
Sadly I can't tell you how to use all the settings for all the supported mobile phone's, but I can tell you how to make your T630 work:
1: Go to the site of YamiGo.
2: Register and check your email for the randomly created password.
3: Go to 'My Friends' in your SonyEricsson, and press on 'More', 'Accounts' and 'Add' and fill in the following details:
Username: Fillin your username, used by the registration of your Yamigo account.
Domain: yamigo.com
Password: Fillin the password given by Yamigo.

They don't have to support it. It's totaly separeted from a provider. You anly need a work GPRS profile from your provider. So, if you can acces internet by GPRS, and you have Wireless Village on your mobile, then it has to work.
