Dust under screen or dead pixel issue. |

Ive done a search and i have noticed a few other people who have had this issue. I cant really figure out if i have dust under my P800 LCD or are they dead pixels, because i dont know how a dead pixel looks like. But i can see some bright white dots and some stuff like dust also beneath my LCD in the lower right corner. I took it to the SE Service center today, and the people sitting on the counter dont even know whats a dead pixel. The lady was amused with the word and said wht is that. Anyways she took my phone inside i guess to show the technician and came back out later and told me this happens because you have pressed the keypad hard, and therefore it is not covered under warranty.
Using the search i have found out some people have got either their LCD replaced or a new phone, but what i wanted to know is this sort of problem covered under warranty or no?
Also does this happen because of pressing the keypad hard?
The se service here is very poor, even tho they know the problem they ignore it and say its fine. They have kept my phone for today and told to check back tomorow. |

i had one tiny speck of dust under my screen when i got my p800, and eventually it annoyed me so much that i sent my phone off to get it dismantled and cleaned. it was embarrasing cos it was such a small speck, but it really annoyed the hell out of me cos it was so damn bright in the backlight.
anyways, they ended up sending me a brand new p800, with an even bigger speck of dust under the screen which in a jaw-clenchingly ironic way, rattled its way to the exact same part of the screen as the last one.
i have since learned to live with it.
it definately sounds like dust youve got, and ive noticed it slowly accumulating in the corners of my screen too.
its not from pressing the screen too hard! one thing ive learned is that no-one in mobile phone shops really knows anything about the p800.

Update: I got my LCD replaced under warranty from the SE Service center. Although to get it done, i had to go thru a lot of hassel and screaming and shouting, but now i have a new LCD so im happy

WTF! Don't they know what a clean room is at SE!?
It's one thing to get dust under the screen after months of use, as with my T68i, but when it's brand frickin' new that's unacceptable.
Anyone know if the P800 can be broken down far enough by the average user to remove the dust and successfully reassembled?
pawanr: If you want to know for sure if it's dust or a dead pixel go into the Jotter application and make a line or some text near or under the speck. Now, tilt the phone back and forth and watch to see whether the speck appears to move back and forth above the image underneath (dust) or whether it stays put in exactly the same spot in the image (dead pixel).
And sorry to the forum for posting another thread about the same thing. I should have looked around a bit more and found this one first. |

Isn't it ironic that a lot of people (including me) have 1 speck of dust under the screen? The fact that it could happen once means that it could happen again, and that fact that a lot of people have them means it quite common, but it seems like most people just have 1 single speck of dust under their screen that annoys the F#@K out of them.

I haven't got any dust YET but if you look at the side of the screen between the case you can see dust getting trapped there all had to do was put a rubber seal there guess they forgot

Yes it is very annoying since you can never get your screen totally clean. That speck will always be there.
The thing that puzzles me is that the dust was there when I first opened the box. A BRAND NEW phone had the problem. A gasket would prevent future problems but why is there dust already there when the phone comes straight from the factory?
Are they assembling these things outside? WTF! |

I use a soft toothbrush my girlfriend got free from her dentist to clean any dust from around the outside of the screen. I take off the flip cover (I don't use the flip itself at all) and sweep the dust down and off my P800. I now have developed a habit of turning my pockets inside out and removing any dust, lint etc before putting my P800 in it. Some people think I'm crazy. Well, a lot of people think I'm crazy, and all for their own reasons....... If it walks like a duck.......
