Oggi? Isn't it ogg?
Anyways. I encode at 48kbps. And it sound alright. In fact I have a hard time hearing the difference but this may be different for you..
I got a 10 meg file down to about 2-2,5.
48kbps mono 44100khz 16bit variable bitrate.
The thing is that if your planning to use this on your p800 you have to use the oggplayer which is not as good as the original audio player. |

how can you encode at 48kbps when the minimum is 64kbps? |

The P800 will play mp3pro flies but you won't get any of the benefits. The P800 mp3 player is not set up for it. Ogg is the best you can get at the moment on the P800. |

You can convert to 48Kbps Ogg using the dBpowerAmp Music Convertor.

what is the best sound for the smallest file size? wma, ogg, mp3pro all seem to have fans who think their choice is best, + maybe there are other contenders. anyone have a definitive answer on this? thanks |

Ogg is the best... I downcoded my 192kbps MP3s to 96kbps Ogg files and the degradation was very minimal...problem with the P800 Ogg player is that it seems to have trouble playing files with the 128MB Duo when more than half is full... at least on mine anyway...it always stutters...no problems playing from my 16MB Duo even if it's filled up with Ogg files.
For encoding onto WAV (which is only good for ringtones)... use the GSM6.10 compression. This cuts the WAV file down to 1/10 it's original size and it sounds the same over the P800 speaker. |

I downloaded all the encoders and plug-ins, etc. Tried to convert a file but the file size turned out much bigger than I had expected. I will try playing around with the settings. But the sound quality was quite impressive though.

Hi guys im having a bit of trouble with my ogg files:
1) Converted a mp3 to .ogg file....on stereo 32000 rate and sound quality of 5.0 but it doesnt make the file any smaller.
So i thought i can perfect the art of compressing by playing with the config. but....I placed the ogg file in docs/unfiled of the duo on my P800 (someone said in a thread this automatically finds the file when u start ogg player).
2) Nothing appears when i boot up ogg player.
Anyone help please?

Can ogg player only be used for a p8/900 or can it be used with other things/phones aswell? |

To find the new files, select "Find new files" from the "OggPlay!" menu.
I use CDex to convert/rip, it is completly free, and can convert directly from MP3 to OGG without saving as WAV first, although the interface can be a little confusing for many.
