Call Timers |

Need to have call timers. It should at least show how long you were talking 5 seconds after the call ends. There also needs to be a total call timer that is user resetable & a lifetime call timer. If anyone knows of a program that tallys the calls...let me know. SE says that the AOC (Advice Of Charge) service should do this, but my carrier does not offer this service. Just trying to keep my calls under my limit per month. |

I agree tylast. My home phone (landline) shows the ongoing live duration of a call taking place, so it's a mystery why something so much more technologically advanced like the P800 can't. It doesn't even have an inbuilt stopwatch. For the moment, I am using a small separate digital stopwatch - it's a nuisance, but useful in certain situations (e.g. 30 cents for 10 minutes max per call to any phone fixed or mobile anywhere in the country after 8 pm). Dont forget though - the call list will show you exact details of every call you make, including time and duration - and it shows up immediately after the call finishes.I tried to get AOC, but this is nothing to do with the carrier, it is a Sony Ericsson service, which is not offered in Australia. |

Well, I just found the call timers (& I didn't find it in the manual). Phone Menu/Total Call Info - That is the call timers page. I wish I could set when the call timers would record the time. Then I could program it to tally incoming/outgoing M-F 0900-2100. Then I could know if I reach my limit for the month. |

Tylast,
What network are you with that does not give you an update on your call time? Every network I have ever been with have done this on a kind of auto system.

D1 in Germany & T-Mobile in the States. You only get call usage if you call in. Neither use AOC (Advice of Charge) service. |

Talking about monitoring call times and on some other thread SMS counters:
I'm delving into the world of java programming for mobile devices and have started trying to develop a piece of software that will monitor all aspects of your tariff (calls made to where and when, sms, gprs maybe, etc) and show you how many free minutes/sms you've got left and/or an idea of how many minutes you've used and what it is costing you. Ultimately, this information will be built off the call/sms records stored in the phone (assuming I can work out how to get this information off the phone) but it should hopefully provide a one page view on your usage.
The imaginative working title is TariffMonitor and hopefully I'll have some sort of very early beta testing version available in a month or so...but I don't have a lot of time to work on it at the moment so don't hold me to that!
Maybe this would meet your needs? |
