Hi, basically what it says in the title, how do i stop the sms tone (i have a poly tone as my sms alert), as it just continues playing even though i have open the msg and read it? Not a massive problem, but if i forgot to put my phone on silent, and then recieve a text, its a big problem to stop the noise - i had to switch it off one time

The fastest method i have found out is to click the sound icon and then switch to silent, but that is still a bit long. Also i could change the sms alert, but would prefer not to.

Thanks in advance to any helpful replies... [addsig]

Only solution here is use a short sms tone.

Change the tone mate. That's why you're supposed to have a message tone as your message alert. Alternatively, edit the audio file on your PC to make it shorter, but that kind of defeats the object. The alert will always play one cycle of the selected tone.

yeah thanks for the quick replies, yeah i hear what your saying about getting a shorter one, but then poly tones are a bit quite. I'll look through the other tones i have, and maybe/hopefully i'll find something i like.
Benefit of having a poly tone as sms, is that it stands out and also sounds good, not just: "beep beep" Thanks anyway

EDIT:
Oh yeah, main reason why i made this thread was to also mention that on my 7250, i can have a poly tone as sms tone, and the alert will stop as soon as i've open the msg, unlike the p8 Its not the end of the world, but still....

I totaly agree with you - the Nokia's stop playing the sound when you press a button to read it. That is the way it should be I thing, because the point of having an alert is to alert you. And if you start reading the message you obviously have been alertet -> no need to continue playing the sound!

But again; not the end of the world

So maybe using a Midi as SMS tones is the problem try to use Wav file, if not success try to check the firmware version (T86iKing).
btw what is the firmware in your phone (vwbeetle)?
