Well all seemed well. In fact, all remains well if I don't plong my phone in the cradle. But as soon as my phone is docked and connected etc, I can no longer run Photoshop (7), I can no longer run CuteFTP, and I have had several explorer crashes which are apparently as a result of the SE software.

I think it's to do with the icon it creates in explorer which is at the same level as the desktop. I'm running WinXP SP1 with the latest release of the SE software (1.1.1).

Has anyone else had any such problems, or got a suggestion for a solution?

Kind of the same problems, I installed a HP scanner, and in their SW bundle the "Share to web" application made everything act crazy, when the PC Suite is installed.
PC Suite itselfs works great, sad that it affects other programs.
Havent tried, as you mentions, CuteFtp. IŽll install it and get back to this!

Yeah I'm finding that the PC suite works flawlessly, sync'ing and backing up is no problem. And as soon as the phone is out of the cradle, no problems again. But when it's connected..... grr

I seem to getting a few explorer crashes, all the menus get screwed up and things run slow.

I am on xp home sp1

I have noticed in task manager in the processes tab there are a load of programs running for the P800 software taking quite a lot of memory.

This may cause the problems and crashes.

I am a programmer so i know about memory issues, so you guys that run photoshop and other memory heavy programs may have major probs.

Can you guys check your processes tab in task manager and reply with you findings, I can't beleive it takes so many programs to connect the P800.

I'm not sure if all of these are for the P800, but here's a list of the ones I think might be:

audevicemgr.exe - 10,392K
AUFULE~1.EXE - 2,856K
BROADC~1.EXE - 5,036K
CapMan.exe - 5,172K
CONNMN~1.EXE - 4,228K
Crypserv.exe - 1,856K
Ecfmserv.exe - 5,860K
ElogErr.exe - 4,204K
EPMWOR~1.EXE - 6,148K
mRouterRuntime.exe - 7,648K
SCRFS.EXE - 4,436K
SYNCIN~1.EXE - 2,496K

Wow, that's a lot more than I expected! What are SE playing at?!

And I thought Nokia's software was bad...

Yep that looks like the same as mine. Crap eh.

Lets hope they can sort it out, I think its daft it needs all them.

A little tip I have found, remove the P800 suite link from the start up folder in your programs menu, this will stop all that crap loading on start up. When you need to connect you p800 just double click the My P800 link on your desktop or what ever its called on yours and this will lauch all the software needed. Note: you may need to double click again if the little phone icon doesn't appear in the taskbar but don't worry it won't run more instances of the programs.

Hope this helps

I found XP to be much less responsive when the SE Docking software was running eg using winamp and scrolling through the tracklist you can see how much slower it is, IE much slower etc etc.

If you right click on the 'Phone Connection Link' icon, click properties and remove USB(so all the connection types are blank). You will notice everything is back to normal. I just tick the USB box when i want to connect and just untick it when i have finished.

Great tip Blunt, with USB un-ticked I can load Photoshop no problem, so hopefully the rest of my apps will be the same.

Would still be good to see SE sort this out and reduce the number of tasks needed to connecto to the phone though...

Anybody trying this with Bluetooth. I can't get it to connect with any stability. I have to start clicking the com ports on and off and restarting computer, unpairing and repairing devices until I can get it connected, but it disconnects after some synchronization or file transfers..

Where do I get the latest SE desktop software?
