Ok, well according to the manual...

To take a picture with the flash

1. Attach the flash to the phone
2. Press the phone's camera button to activate the camera
3. Press the flash button to take the picture
Tip: If the subject is too dark light up the subject by pressing the flash button twice quickly, and then press the flash button again to take the picture.

Extra functions

In the phone menu, scoll to Accessories, Phone flash, Extras and select:
. Constant light to use as a torch
. SOS to flash SOS morse code
. Stroboscope for high frequency light

As I said, I hoped I was wrong. Is there any confirmation as to whether it works with a P800 though?

Cheers.

@Bogus Jimmy
I answered that question on the first page. According to SE it works on all SE phones. But it's made for the T610. So it can't flash with the P800. Unless you press a button on it. Meaning that there is no way in hell that one can take a photograph if it's only one instant flash. Well atleast not me

I thought it was compatible with the P800 but according to the MPF-10 compatibility page its only compatible with the T610, T616 and T618.

edit: Its also NOT listed on the P800 accesories page.

So I dunno...

No SE have never been wrong in the past, where did you get that from? *coughs* BS *coughs*. Yeah it depends on who you talk to at SE too. I mean sometimes I get the "I only work here and the computer don't know the answer" kinda types. *shudders* Hope it will be out soon so someone can test it!!

As I've said before, it is impossible to press both the flash button and the camera button at the same time to capture a shot.

My analysis: To take the photo when the MPF-10 is attached, activate the camera first on the P800. When you see the preview on the screen, compose your picture and then PRESS THE BUTTON ON THE FLASH, NOT THE BUTTON ON THE CAMERA to take the picture. This will activate both the flash as well as camera on the P800 to capture the shot.

Now, if the setting is too dark and the preview on the P800 cannot pick up anything, then switch on the torch function of the flash (by pressing the button twice - hope I read the previous post correctly). You must understand that this torch light function DOES NOT emit the full intensity of the flash but merely a preview light for the camera on the P800 to pick up its subject so that we can see the preview on screen. The picture is then taken by pressing the flash button like what I mentioned in para 2.

It is cool to read that the flash comes with Strob effect. This is commonly found in professional flashlights used together with SLR cameras. Basically, the flash will fire 5-8 times per second. It is either to create special effects or to reduce red-eye effect on the subject. I believe it to fulfill the latter.

@lesneo
Then the flash needs to send a signal to the P800 which according to SE isn't possible(yet). Because that signal only synchs with T610 so the picture will get it's flash. It is a product for the T610 and not the P800! And no one can know for sure exactly how this product will work until it's out on the market.

I agree that it would be impossible to press both buttons at the same time and I agree now that the way you described is how the flash attachment will work. The only thing left to settle is whether or not the functionality for the MPF-10 was written into the software for the P800 (it suppose it is possible that it may be in future sw versions if not already), otherwise it won't work. I have high hopes that if it hasn't been implemented yet in R2F, that it will be in later versions, similar to the T68i R6A MCA-25 upgrade. We'll see.......

I'm surprised it's not available for pre-order yet from Doml. I'll be interested to see if they put it on P800er.com as well as T610er.com or just T610er.com. [addsig]
